Heat Sealability and Convertibility of Cellulose Film in Vertical Form, Fill and Seal Machine for Food Packaging Applications

The study demonstrated that regenerated cellulose films exhibit limited sealability at elevated temperatures due to thermal degradation. Serrated sealing tools enabled tighter seals especially in triple point area, while flat tools resulted in microchannel leaks.

Among eight allergenic foods without mandatory labelling involved in ≥ 1% of AVN database food anaphylaxis cases, four (goat's/sheep's milk, buckwheat, peas/lentils, pine nuts) should be considered for inclusion in the European mandatory labelling of foods list, due to their severity, recurrence, and sometimes hidden consumption.
