Computer‐Aided Functional Oligosaccharide Screening and the Regulatory Role in Lipid Metabolism

open access: yesFood Bioengineering, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT This study investigated the lipid‐lowering effects and intervention mechanisms of structurally diverse functional oligosaccharides on non‐alcoholic fatty liver disease (NAFLD). By integrating computational tools such as molecular docking and molecular dynamics simulations (MDS), a comprehensive “in silico‐in vitro‐in vivo” tri‐dimensional ...

Antioxidant Activity and Inhibition of Carbohydrate Hydrolyzing Enzymes by Underutilized Parts From Some Plant‐Based Foods and Their Effect on Postprandial Hyperglycemia

open access: yesFood Chemistry International, EarlyView.
The underutilized parts viz: pawpaw seed, banana, plantain, and potato peels showed promising antioxidant and inhibition of α‐amylase and α‐glucosidase activities (IC50 values ≤ 100 μg/mL). Similarly, pawpaw seed, banana, plantain, and potato peels reduced postprandial hyperglycemia in sucrose‐ and maltose‐induced hyperglycemia in rats.

[Prandial regulation of glycemia].

open access: yesLijecnicki vjesnik, 2000
The most striking feature of diabetes is hyperglycemia. Maintaining glycemia within certain levels can prevent the development of chronic complications. We researched today's possibilities of diabetes treatment with special emphasis on prandial glucose regulation, searching the Medline with keywords: diabetes mellitus/therapy, hyperglycemia ...
