Radiation‐induced hypothyroidism follows head and neck radiotherapy due to oxidative stress and inflammation. Electrospun polycaprolactone scaffolds containing adenosine have potential to modulate thyroid repair. Scaffolds enhance thyrocyte proliferation, antioxidant enzymes glutathione peroxidase and catalase, reduce senescence and apoptosis markers ...

Stress conditions can induce translocation of glyceraldehyde-3-phosphate dehydrogenase (GAPC) to the nucleus. Here Kim et al. show that in Arabidopsis, GAPC can interact with the NF-YC transcription factor subunit, enhance expression of heat-inducible ...

Incorporation of Glyceraldehyde into the Pyridine Ring of Nicotine
Abstract d-Glyceraldehyde-3-14C was synthesized and administered to intact Nicotiana rustica. Degradation of the pyridine moiety of nicotine produced by these plants showed that over half of the incorporated 14C was in position 4 of the pyridine ring, and the remainder of the radioactivity was divided almost equally among carbon atoms 2, 3, and 6. Lack

The mould Hypocrea jecorina (Trichoderma reesei) has two genes coding for enzymes with high similarity to the NADP-dependent glycerol dehydrogenase. These genes, called gld1 and gld2, were cloned and expressed in a heterologous host. The encoded proteins

Targeting the PDK1/c‐Myc/SOX10 Signaling in Oligodendrocytes Alleviates Neuropathic Pain
This work reveals that oligodendrocyte homeostasis, mediated by PDK1, is a critical determinant of neuropathic pain (NPP) pathogenesis. Disruption of PDK1 in oligodendrocytes impairs SOX10‐dependent myelination programs through c‐Myc accumulation, leading to disrupted myelination and the pathophysiology of NPP.

Glycidyl fatty acid esters (GE) are constituents of edible oils and fats, and are converted into glycidol, a genotoxic substance, in vivo. N-(2,3-dihydroxypropyl)valine (diHOPrVal), a hemoglobin adduct of glycidol, is used as a biomarker of glycidol and ...

ABSTRACT Liver metastasis is a leading cause of mortality in colorectal cancer (CRC), where the inflammatory tumor microenvironment, specifically neutrophil infiltration, significantly promotes metastatic colonization. This study reveals a pro‐metastatic role for alpha‐1 antitrypsin (A1AT) in CRC liver metastasis via a dual mechanism involving ...

Function of glyceraldehyde dehydrogenase (AlDH) in our synthetic reaction cascade.
Glucose is degraded enzymatically to pyruvate and glyceraldehyde. AlDH catalyzes the oxidation of d-glyceraldehyde to d-glycerate, which is then dehydrated to pyruvate. Ethanol and isobutanol are synthesized by further reaction steps.

This diagram illustrates that night shift work disrupts circadian clock genes (like CLOCK, BMAL1) in both humans and mice. This disruption leads to mitochondrial dysfunction (imbalanced fusion/fission proteins) and increased oxidative stress, which is identified as the primary mechanism ultimately causing elevated blood pressure.

Structures of Toxic Advanced Glycation End-Products Derived from Glyceraldehyde, A Sugar Metabolite
Advanced glycation end-products (AGEs) have recently been implicated in the onset/progression of lifestyle-related diseases (LSRDs); therefore, the suppression of AGE-induced effects may be used in both the prevention and treatment of these diseases ...
