Microarray gene expression profiling of neural tissues in bovine spastic paresis [PDF]
: Background: Bovine Spastic Paresis (BSP) is a neuromuscular disorder which affects both male and female cattle. BSP is characterized by spastic contraction and overextension of the gastrocnemious muscle of one or both limbs and is associated with a ...

Adrenergic pathways in glycine-mediated feeding behavior: Evidence from layer chickens
Glycinergic and adrenergic systems are integral to the regulation of meal consumption in avian species; however, the interactions between these systems have not been previously documented. This investigation was conducted to explore the interplay between

High-throughput screening in larval zebrafish identifies novel potent sedative-hypnotics [PDF]
BACKGROUND: Many general anesthetics were discovered empirically, but primary screens to find new sedative-hypnotics in drug libraries have not used animals, limiting the types of drugs discovered.

Glycine Transporter Blockade Ameliorates Motor Ataxia in a Mouse Model of Spinocerebellar Atrophy
Ataxic movement, the common major symptom of spinocerebellar atrophy, has been considered to involve impaired glutamatergic excitatory neurotransmission in the cerebellum.

CCDC80 suppresses high‐grade serous ovarian cancer migration via negative regulation of B7‐H3
PAX8 is a lineage‐specific master regulator of transcription in high‐grade serous ovarian cancer (HGSC) progression. We show for the first time that PAX8 facilitates proliferation and metastasis by repressing the cell autonomous tumor suppressor CCDC80 and inducing B7‐H3 expression.

We identify USP29 as the only DUB mirroring CA9 expression, a marker of hypoxia and HIF pathway activation associated with PCA aggressiveness. USP29 stabilizes HIF‐1α and HIF‐2α via a noncanonical mechanism that is independent of PHD/pVHL activity yet relies on proteasomal regulation, establishing USP29 as a previously unrecognized regulator of hypoxic

Allosteric modulation of glycine receptors.
Inhibitory (or strychnine sensitive) glycine receptors (GlyRs) are anion-selective transmitter-gated ion channels of the cys-loop superfamily, which includes among others also the inhibitory γ-aminobutyric acid receptors (GABA(A) receptors). While GABA mediates fast inhibitory neurotransmission throughout the CNS, the action of glycine as a fast ...
