Glycopeptides

1998
Abstract Vancomycin is the only glycopeptide antibiotic licensed for clinical use in the United States. Another glycopeptide antibiotic, teicoplanin, is currently in clinical use in Europe, where, in addition, the glycopeptide avoparcin has been used in chicken and ruminant livestock feed as a growth promoter.

Preparation of Glycopeptides

Current Protocols in Molecular Biology, 1995
AbstractGeneration of glycopeptides from glycoproteins is frequently useful when analyzing a protein's oligosaccharide side chains. Freed from the bulk of the polypeptide backbone by proteolysis, glycopeptides can be characterized by a variety of techniques.

Glycopeptide Antibiotic Resistance

Annual Review of Pharmacology and Toxicology, 2002
Glycopeptide antibiotics are integral components of the current antibiotic arsenal that is under strong pressures as a result of the emergence of a variety of resistance mechanisms over the past 15 years. Resistance has manifested itself largely through the expression of genes that encode proteins that reprogram cell wall biosynthesis and thus evade ...

Annales francaises d'anesthesie et de reanimation, 2000
To review pharmacology, pharmacokinetic and therapeutic use of glycopeptides in intensive care units.Extraction from Medline database of French and English articles on glycopeptides and search along with major review articles. The collected articles were reviewed and selected according to their quality and originality. The more recent data were selected.

Synthesis of Glycopeptides

2010
Oligosaccharides in protein play important roles in several biological events. In order to investigate the functions of oligosaccharides of protein, glycoproteins having homogeneous oligosaccharides should be prepared. For this purpose, preparation methods of diverse complex-type oligosaccharides as well as synthetic methods of glycopeptides are ...

Glycopeptides and nephrotoxicity

Intensive Care Medicine, 1994
Infections due to Gram-positive bacteria have become an increasing problem in the ICU. Furthermore, multidrug resistance among Gram-positive pathogens is increasingly recognized. Empirical therapy with antibiotic regimens that are effective against Gram-positive pathogens is often required in the ICU.

Conformation of Glycopeptides

Mini-Reviews in Medicinal Chemistry, 2003
The presence of carbohydrate side-chains in native glycoproteins alters a number of biochemical properties of the peptide backbone. One of the most frequently studied questions is the conformation-modifying effect of sugar incorporation into asparagine, serine and threonine residues.

Glycopeptide dendrimers. Part I

Journal of Peptide Science, 2007
AbstractGlycopeptide dendrimers are branched structures containing both carbohydrates and peptides. Various classes of these compounds differing in composition and structure are mentioned, together with their practical use spanning from catalysis, transport vehicles to synthetic vaccines.

[Glycopeptides].

Nihon rinsho. Japanese journal of clinical medicine, 2001
Glycopeptides(Vancomycin(VCM), Teicoplanin(TEIC)) are effective against Gram positive cocci(GPC) and mainly prescribing for Methicillin Resistant Staphylococcus aureus(MRSA) infection in Japan. Mode of actions are little bit difference between VCM and TEIC, for example the rate of protein binding, post antibiotic effect and half-life time.

Synthesis of O-Glycopeptides and Construction of Glycopeptide Microarrays

2013
O-glycosylation of proteins is an important modification which affects biological function and immunity. In this chapter, we provide protocols for efficient solid-phase O-glycopeptide synthesis (SPGPS) and protocols for the construction of glycopeptide microarray chips for screening applications.
