Platelet Glycoprotein VI Contributes to Murine Experimental Metastasis

Blood, 2008
Abstract A key receptor supporting the normal role of platelets in hemostasis and thrombosis is the collagen receptor, glycoprotein (GP)VI. GPVI is a member of the immunoglobulin super family and is uniquely expressed on the surface of platelets where it is assembled with the ITAM-bearing activation subunit, FcR-g.

Dimeric Glycoprotein VI Binds to Collagen but Not to Fibrin

Thrombosis and Haemostasis, 2018
AbstractPlatelet glycoprotein VI (GPVI) acts as a decisive collagen receptor in atherothrombosis. Besides collagen, injured atherosclerotic plaques expose tissue factor (TF) that triggers fibrin formation. Two recent studies reported that platelet GPVI also functions as fibrin receptor, which would importantly widen the mode of action of GPVI-targeted ...

Platelet Receptor Glycoprotein VI in Ischaemic Stroke

2020
Platelet activation, thrombus growth and subsequent thromboembolism underpins the pathophysiology of ischaemic stroke. At sites of atherothrombotic plaque rupture, it is established that platelet surface receptor glycoprotein (GP) VI-dimer binds to exposed sub-endothelial collagen, initiating the signalling required to cause platelet activation.

Platelet Glycoprotein VI Haplotypes and the Presentation of Paediatric Sepsis

Thrombosis and Haemostasis, 2018
AbstractSepsis triggers a complex series of pathophysiologic events involving inflammatory responses and coagulation abnormalities. While circulating blood platelets are well-characterized for their contributions to coagulation, increasingly platelet-dependent effects on inflammation are being recognized.

Platelet Glycoprotein VI: A Novel Marker for Acute Coronary Syndrome

Seminars in Thrombosis and Hemostasis, 2007
The platelet collagen receptor glycoprotein (GP) VI is critical for the formation of arterial thrombosis. GPVI platelet surface expression was examined in patients with stable angina and in patients with acute coronary syndrome (ACS). Surface expression of platelet activation markers such as P-selectin, GPIbalpha, and platelet GPVI was determined by ...
