Mango Seed Valorization: Sustainable Source of Nutrients, Bioactives, and Value‐Added Applications

open access: yesFood Chemistry International, EarlyView.
Highlighting mango seed as a valuable yet overlooked by‐product, promoting its utilization and reducing agroindustrial waste. ABSTRACT Mango (Mangifera indica L.) is one of the most widely cultivated tropical fruits, generating large quantities of by‐products during processing, with mango seed representing 20%–25% of the whole fruit weight ...

Cloning, Expression, and Characterization of a Glycoside Hydrolase Family 118 β-Agarase from Agarivorans sp. JA-1

open access: yesJournal of Microbiology and Biotechnology, 2012
We report a glycoside hydrolase (GH)-118 beta-agarase from a strain of Agarivorans, in which we previously reported recombinant expression and characterization of the GH- 50 beta-agarase. The GH comprised an open reading frame of 1,437 base pairs, which encoded a protein of 52,580 daltons consisting of 478 amino acid residues.

Standardized Research Methodology for Akkermansia muciniphila: Multi‐Omics Integration, Functional Evaluation, and Clinical Translation Pathways

open access: yesGut Medicine, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT Background Akkermansia muciniphila has emerged as a leading next‐generation beneficial microbe candidate in gut microbiome research, linked to host metabolic homeostasis, mucosal immune regulation, and intestinal barrier integrity. However, marked methodological heterogeneity in isolation and culture conditions, detection and quantification ...

Intracellular β-glucosidase regulates cellulase expression and development in Aspergillus nidulans

open access: yesApplied Microbiology and Biotechnology
β-Glucosidases (EC 3.2.1.21) are essential enzymes involved in biomass degradation and metabolic regulation, but the physiological roles of intracellular β-glucosidases in filamentous fungi remain incompletely understood.

Gut microbiome seasonality is associated with dietary plasticity and coexistence in three sympatric Pamir ungulates

open access: yesiMetaOmics, EarlyView.
This graphical abstract outlines a multi‐omics framework investigating the seasonal dietary composition and gut microbial communities of three coexisting ungulate species inhabiting the extreme high‐altitude Pamir Plateau (Ovis ammon polii, Capra sibirica, and Pseudois nayaur). By integrating dietary DNA metabarcoding, 16S rRNA gene sequencing, shotgun

Biochemical characterization of Lp_2777, a family 1 glycoside hydrolase from Lactoibacillus plantarum WCFS1

open access: yes, 2018
Glycoside hydrolases (GHs) have been organized into 114 families in the CAZy database (http://www.cazy.org) based on amino acid sequence similarities. Among these families, glycoside hydrolase family 1 (GH1) enzymes are important members which hydrolyze β-glycosidic linkages. Carbohydrates are the major energy source for Lactic acid bacteria (LABs) and

Structural and dynamic evolution of the amphipathic N-terminus diversifies enzyme thermostability in the glycoside hydrolase family 12

open access: yes, 2016
Understanding the molecular mechanism underlying protein thermostability is central to the process of efficiently engineering thermostable cellulases, which can provide potential advantages in accelerating the conversion of biomass into clean biofuels.

Multi‐omics reveals gastrointestinal metabolic disorder‐induced diarrhea in postpartum dairy cows

open access: yesiMetaOmics, EarlyView.
Nutritional diarrhea is a pervasive, costly challenge in dairy production. Using integrated metagenomic and metabolomic profiling, we identified coordinated microbial and metabolic alterations across the rumen, hindgut, and serum. In the rumen, enrichment of Prevotella sp.
