Acute kidney injury on chronic kidney disease: From congestive heart failure to light chain deposition disease and cast nephropathy in multiple myeloma [PDF]

open access: yes, 2019
Acute on chronic renal failure is a common but notably broad diagnosis. We present a 64-year-old man with a history of diastolic heart failure and chronic kidney disease, admitted for an elevated creatinine.

ACE-inhibition ameliorates vascular reactivity and delays diabetes outcome in NODmice. [PDF]

open access: yes, 2008
Recently, we have demonstrated a direct correlation among hyperglycaemia, vascular dysfunction and eNOS post-translational regulation in non non-obese diabetic mice (NOD).

Elective peri‐operative management of adults taking glucagon‐like peptide‐1 receptor agonists, glucose‐dependent insulinotropic peptide agonists and sodium‐glucose cotransporter‐2 inhibitors: a multidisciplinary consensus statement

open access: yesAnaesthesia, Volume 80, Issue 4, Page 412-424, April 2025.
Summary Introduction Glucagon‐like peptide‐1 receptor agonists, dual glucose‐dependent insulinotropic peptide receptor agonists and sodium‐glucose cotransporter‐2 inhibitors are used increasingly in patients receiving peri‐operative care. These drugs may be associated with risks of peri‐operative pulmonary aspiration or euglycaemic ketoacidosis.

Phosphoinositide Metabolism: Biochemistry, Physiology and Genetic Disorders

open access: yesJournal of Inherited Metabolic Disease, Volume 48, Issue 2, March 2025.
ABSTRACT Phosphatidylinositol, a glycerophospholipid with a myo‐inositol head group, can form seven different phosphoinositides (PItds) by phosphorylation at inositol carbons 3, 4 and/or 5. Over 50 kinases and phosphatases participate in PItd metabolism, creating an interconnected PItd network that allows for precise temporal and spatial regulation of ...
