GLYCOSURIA IN DIPHTHERIA [PDF]

open access: yesJournal of Experimental Medicine, 1899
(1) There is a transitory glycosuria in diphtheria, which is found frequently in the severe cases and is usually present in the fatal ones. (2) This glycosuria is often associated with albuminuria. (3) Injections of diphtheria antitoxin are occasionally followed for a few days by a slight glycosuria.

Prolonged ketosis and glycosuria secondary to SGLT2 inhibitor therapy

open access: yesClinical Case Reports, 2021
Clinicians should be aware of the potential for the pharmacologic activity of SGLT2 inhibitors to persist long after the standard drug clearance period of five half‐lives, the typical duration used to guide pre‐operative medication recommendations.

Glycosuria in glomerular diseases: histopathology and clinical correlations [PDF]

open access: goldBrazilian Journal of Medical and Biological Research, 1998
There are doubts about the presence of glycosuria and the progress of glomerular disease. Some reports suggest that glycosuria could be an index of a more severe tubulointerstitial lesion.

Renal Glycosuria as a Novel Early Sign of Colistin-Induced Kidney Damage in Mice [PDF]

open access: hybridAntimicrobial Agents and Chemotherapy, 2019
The polymyxin colistin represents a last-resort antibiotic for multidrug-resistant infections, but its use is limited by the frequent onset of acute drug-induced kidney injury (DIKI). It is essential to closely monitor kidney function prior to and during

Reduced renal sympathetic nerve activity contributes to elevated glycosuria and improved glucose tolerance in hypothalamus-specific Pomc knockout mice

open access: yesMolecular Metabolism, 2017
Objective: Hypothalamic arcuate nucleus-specific pro-opiomelanocortin deficient (ArcPomc−/−) mice exhibit improved glucose tolerance despite massive obesity and insulin resistance.

Soyfood consumption and risk of glycosuria in post-menopausal women [PDF]

open access: greenUniversa Medicina, 2010
Menopause is a natural event to be experienced by every woman and appears to be associated with increased risk for developing type 2 diabetes mellitus. It has been postulated that a diet high in legumes may be beneficial for the prevention of glycosuria.

Hyperglycemia in pregnancy: A sensitivity analysis study of two recommended screening tests in Tanzania. [PDF]

open access: yesPLOS Global Public Health
Screening for hyperglycaemia in pregnancy (HIP) is an entry point to a healthy pregnancy and childbirth for both the woman and child, and offers a window of opportunity for the prevention of cardio-metabolic complications over the life-course of the ...

Accuracy of glycosuria, random blood glucose and risk factors as selective screening tools for gestational diabetes mellitus in comparison with universal diagnosing [PDF]

open access: goldBMJ Open Diabetes Research & Care, 2018
Objective Despite the short-term and long-term health implications of gestational diabetes mellitus (GDM), opinions are divided on selective vis-à-vis universal screening. We validated the accuracy of screening tests for GDM.

Learning From Glycosuria [PDF]

open access: hybridDiabetes, 2011
Plasma glucose is filtered freely through the glomerular barrier. In a 70-kg adult with a glomerular filtration rate of 120 mL · min-1 per 1.73 m2 and an average, around-the-clock plasma glucose concentration of 120 mg/dL (6.7 mmol/L), ∼200 g of glucose are transferred daily from the bloodstream into the preurine.
