Chemical profiling and characterisation of anthraquinone‐based polyphenols as biocolourants from Cortinarius semisanguineus

open access: yesColoration Technology, EarlyView.
Abstract Anthraquinone dyes are known for their significant colour (brightness of shade in the red, blue and green areas) and light fastness properties compared with other synthetic dyes (such as azo‐based dyes). However, challenging multi‐step synthesis of anthraquinones and limited access to fewer substituents result in insufficient reactivity ...

Glycosylation and rheumatic disease

open access: yesBiochimica et Biophysica Acta (BBA) - Molecular Basis of Disease, 1998
Rheumatoid arthritis (RA) and other rheumatic diseases are associated with a significant defect in the galactosyltransferase enzyme that results in a profound change in the galactosylation of immunoglobulin G. This change has been demonstrated to be integrally associated with pathogenic mechanisms associated with inflammation in RA.

GlycanML: A Multi-Task and Multi-Structure Benchmark for Glycan Machine Learning [PDF]

open access: yesarXiv
Glycans are basic biomolecules and perform essential functions within living organisms. The rapid increase of functional glycan data provides a good opportunity for machine learning solutions to glycan understanding. However, there still lacks a standard machine learning benchmark for glycan property and function prediction.

Differential gene expression toward species of Aristolochia impairing the performance of the Troidini butterfly Battus polydamas

open access: yesEntomologia Experimentalis et Applicata, EarlyView.
We studied the response of Battus polydamas (Papilionidae) larvae fed on Aristolochia ringens (containing several diterpenes) and Aristolochia gigantea (containing sesquiterpenes and acyclic monoterpenoids but no diterpenoids or aristolochic acids). We assessed larval performance on fitness components such as survival and differential gene expression ...

Glucodensity Functional Profiles Outperform Traditional Continuous Glucose Monitoring Metrics [PDF]

open access: yesarXiv
Continuous glucose monitoring (CGM) data has revolutionized the management of type 1 diabetes, particularly when integrated with insulin pumps to mitigate clinical events such as hypoglycemia. Recently, there has been growing interest in utilizing CGM devices in clinical studies involving healthy and diabetes populations.

Structural and functional insights into extreme thermal stability and activity of two GH12 domains of a multidomain glycosidase from a hyperthermophilic euryarchaeon

open access: yesThe FEBS Journal, EarlyView.
The multidomain glycosidase MDG from the hyperthermophilic euryarchaeon Thermococcus sp. contains five protein domains: three catalytic domains (GH5, GH12‐1, and GH12‐2) and two cellulose‐binding modules (CBM2). In this study, the GH12‐1 and GH12‐2 domains were individually purified and biochemically characterized.
