Peritoneal Lavage With Low GDP Neutral pH PD Solution Reduces Mortality and Severity in a Lethal Peritonitis Model

open access: yesTherapeutic Apheresis and Dialysis, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT Introduction The efficacy of peritoneal lavage monotherapy using PD solution for severe peritonitis remains unproven. Methods We evaluated the effects of 3‐times and 6‐times lavage using low GDP neutral PD solution on a Methicillin‐sensitive Staphylococcus aureus (MSSA) lethal peritonitis model rats without antibiotic use.

Mechanism of Cd-Induced Inhibition of Na-Glucose Cotransporter in Rabbit Proximal Tubule Cells: Roles of Luminal pH and Membrane-Bound Carbonic Anhydrase [PDF]

open access: yes, 2008
Background/Aims: We have previously reported that a complex of cadmium-metallothionein (Cd-MT) directly affects the apical Na-glucose cotransporter on the luminal side in proximal tubules, suggesting that Cd-MT is more toxic than CdCl2 in causing ...

Targeting acetylated high mobility group box 1 protein (HMGB1) and toll‐like receptor (TLR4) interaction to alleviate hypertension and neuroinflammation in fructose‐fed rats

open access: yesBritish Journal of Pharmacology, EarlyView.
Abstract Background and Purpose Our previous study reported that fructose intake increased systemic blood pressure and reduced nitric oxide (NO) in the nucleus tractus solitarius (NTS) due to oxidative stress and neuroinflammation. However, it remains unclear how reactive oxygen species (ROS) reduce NO and how this process impacts neuroinflammation in ...

In Vitro Co-Delivery Evaluation of Novel Pegylated Nano-Liposomal Herbal Drugs of Silibinin and Glycyrrhizic Acid (Nano-Phytosome) to Hepatocellular Carcinoma Cells

open access: yesCell Journal, 2016
Objective This study aimed to evaluate a co-encapsulated pegylated nano-liposome system based on two herbal anti-tumor drugs, silibinin and glycyrrhizic acid, for delivery to a hepatocellular carcinoma (HCC) cell line (HepG2). Materials and Methods

Unveiling the catalytical roles of three glycosyltransferases in triterpenoid saponins in quinoa

open access: yesPlant Biotechnology Journal, EarlyView.
Summary Saponins constitute a class of characteristic compounds within quinoa grains. In this study, metabolomic analysis identified 20 triterpene saponins, the majority of which were exclusively localized within the pericarp. Furthermore, three crucial glycosyltransferases were identified in quinoa.

Pharmacological effect of Trinatrium salt of Glycyrrhizic acid

open access: yesEuropean Science Review, 2016
Trinatrium salt of glycyrrhizic acid (Glycytrinate) with strong anti-ulcerous activity combined with anti-inflammatory effect was synthesized on the basis of glycyrrhizic acid. According to the parameters of acute toxicity in experiments on white mice and rats with per oral administration Glycytrinate was included to the group of little toxic ...

Synthesis and study of complexes of the novel Russian antiviral drug Camphecene with pentacyclic triterpenes of licorice [PDF]

open access: yes, 2020
For the first time, the complexation of pentacyclic triterpenes of licorice (glycyrrhizic acid (GA) and its aglycone, glycyrrhetinic acid (GLA)) with the novel Russian antiviral drug Camphecene (Camph) was investigated.

Fatty Acids and Inflammatory Protein Biomarkers From Coronavirus Disease 2019 Patients

open access: yesImmunity, Inflammation and Disease, Volume 13, Issue 7, July 2025.
The coronavirus disease 2019 (COVID‐19) pandemic created the need to identify new biomarkers and drug targets. In this study, we aimed to establish a unique signature profile of specific fatty acids, cytokines, and chemokines present in the plasma after COVID‐19 viral infection to serve as novel biomarkers that can be used to determine the severity of ...
