Efficiency of vanillin in impeding metabolic adaptability and virulence of Candida albicans by inhibiting glyoxylate cycle, morphogenesis, and biofilm formation [PDF]

open access: yesCurrent Medical Mycology, 2020
Background and Purpose: Candida albicans is the fourth most common cause of nosocomial fungal infections across the world. The current drug regimens are suffering from such drawbacks as drug resistance, toxicity, and costliness; accordingly, they ...

Evidence for a functional glyoxylate cycle in the leishmaniae [PDF]

open access: bronzeJournal of Bacteriology, 1978
Isocitrate lyase (EC 4.1.3.1) and malate synthase (EC 4.1.3.2), the two enzymes characteristic of the glyoxylate cycle, were demonstrated in promastigotes of five species of Leishmania (L. brasiliensis, L. donovani, L. mexicana, L. tarentolae, and L. tropica). Both enzymes were present in cells grown in a medium containing 10 mM glucose.
