Lack of effect of the human GM-CSF analog E21R on the survival of primary human acute myeloid leukemia cells [PDF]

open access: yes, 2004
The granulocyte-macrophage colony-stimulating factor (GM-CSF) analog E21R binds to the GM-CSF receptor complex with low affinity and acts as a competitive antagonist.

Cell wall target fragment discovery using a low‐cost, minimal fragment library

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
LoCoFrag100 is a fragment library made up of 100 different compounds. Similarity between the fragments is minimized and 10 different fragments are mixed into a single cocktail, which is soaked to protein crystals. These crystals are analysed by X‐ray crystallography, revealing the binding modes of the bound fragment ligands.

Detection of transgenic and endogenous plant DNA in blood and organs of Nile tilapia, Oreochromis niloticus fed a diet formulated with genetically modified soybean meal [PDF]

open access: yes, 2015
Anxiety regarding the fate of ingested transgenic DNA in farmed fish fed genetically modified (GM) soybean meal (SBM) has been raised with regard to human consumption.

Linking neurogenesis, oligodendrogenesis, and myelination defects to neurodevelopmental disruption in primary mitochondrial disorders

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
Mitochondrial remodeling shapes neural and glial lineage progression by matching metabolic supply with demand. Elevated OXPHOS supports differentiation and myelin formation, while myelin compaction lowers mitochondrial dependence, revealing mitochondria as key drivers of developmental energy adaptation.

Emerging trends in research and development on earth abundant materials for ammonia degradation coupled with H2 generation

open access: yesScience and Technology of Advanced Materials
Ammonia, as an essential and economical fuel, is a key intermediate for the production of innumerable nitrogen-based compounds. Such compounds have found vast applications in the agricultural world, biological world (amino acids, proteins, and DNA), and ...

Transcriptional network analysis of PTEN‐protein‐deficient prostate tumors reveals robust stromal reprogramming and signs of senescent paracrine communication

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
Combining PTEN protein assessment and transcriptomic profiling of prostate tumors, we uncovered a network enriched in senescence and extracellular matrix (ECM) programs associated with PTEN loss and conserved in a mouse model. We show that PTEN‐deficient cells trigger paracrine remodeling of the surrounding stroma and this information could help ...

3D-planned HTO with patient-specific cutting guides: aiming for simpler, more accurate surgery leads to more complexity in the perioperative process

open access: yesJournal of Orthopaedic Reports
Background: High tibial osteotomy (HTO) surgical accuracy may be improved by using CT-based pre-operative planning and patient-specific cutting guides (PSCGs). This randomized exploratory study aimed to assess the feasibility and accuracy of HTO with the

Modeling the International-Trade Network: A Gravity Approach [PDF]

open access: yes, 2011
This paper investigates whether the gravity model (GM) can explain the statistical properties of the International Trade Network (ITN). We fit data on international-trade flows with a GM specification using alternative fitting techniques and we employ GM

Cell surface interactome analysis identifies TSPAN4 as a negative regulator of PD‐L1 in melanoma

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
Using cell surface proximity biotinylation, we identified tetraspanin TSPAN4 within the PD‐L1 interactome of melanoma cells. TSPAN4 negatively regulates PD‐L1 expression and lateral mobility by limiting its interaction with CMTM6 and promoting PD‐L1 degradation.

Experimental Investigation of Deviations in Sound Reproduction

open access: yesAcoustics
Sound reproduction is the electro-mechanical re-creation of sound waves using analogue and digital audio equipment. Although sound reproduction implies that repeated acoustical events are close to identical, numerous fixed and variable conditions affect ...
