The recently proposed "generalized min-max" (GMM) kernel can be efficiently linearized, with direct applications in large-scale statistical learning and fast near neighbor search. The linearized GMM kernel was extensively compared in with linearized radial basis function (RBF) kernel.

Real Time Recognition Of Speakers From Internet Audio Stream
In this paper we present an automatic speaker recognition technique with the use of the Internet radio lossy (encoded) speech signal streams. We show an influence of the audio encoder (e.g., bitrate) on the speaker model quality.

The GMM Parameter Normalization Puzzle [PDF]
A feature of GMM estimation--the use of a consistent estimate of the optimal weighting matrix rather than the joint estimation of the model parameters and the weighting matrix--can lead to the sensitivity of GMM estimation to the choice of parameter normalization.

Symmetrically normalized instrumental-variable estimation using panel data [PDF]
In this paper we discuss the estimation of panel data models with sequential moment restrictions using symmetrically normalized GMM estimators. These estimators are asymptotically equivalent to standard GMM but are invariant to normalization and tend to ...

Supporting Survivor‐Centered Care Through Digital Health Integration
ABSTRACT Survivors of childhood cancer face barriers to receiving guideline‐based, long‐term follow‐up care. Two digital tools, Passport for Care (PFC) and Cancer SurvivorLink (SurvivorLink), address complementary gaps by enabling tailored survivorship care plan (SCP) generation, updating, storage, and sharing.

GMM Estimation with Noncausal Instruments [PDF]
Lagged variables are often used as instruments when the generalized method of moments (GMM) is applied to time series data. We show that if these variables follow noncausal autoregressive processes, their lags are not valid instruments and the GMM estimator is inconsistent.

Porting concepts from DNNs back to GMMs [PDF]
Deep neural networks (DNNs) have been shown to outperform Gaussian Mixture Models (GMM) on a variety of speech recognition benchmarks. In this paper we analyze the differences between the DNN and GMM modeling techniques and port the best ideas from the ...

Multimodal Data‐Driven Microstructure Characterization
A self‐consistent autonomous workflow for EBSP‐based microstructure segmentation by integrating PCA, GMM clustering, and cNMF with information‐theoretic parameter selection, requiring no user input. An optimal ROI size related to characteristic grain size is identified.
