CD9‐association with PIP2 areas is regulated by a CD9 salt bridge

open access: yesFEBS Open Bio, EarlyView.
The tetraspanin CD9 has an intracellular salt bridge. If CD9 opens, open‐CD9 moves from PIP2‐rich areas to regions populated by its interaction partner EWI‐2. Hence, the state of the salt bridge regulates the distribution of CD9 and by this CD9‐EWI‐2 complex formation.

Ro 31‐8220 suppresses bladder cancer progression via enhancing autophagy in vitro and in vivo

open access: yesFEBS Open Bio, EarlyView.
The pan‐protein kinase C inhibitor Ro‐31‐8220 demonstrates potent anti‐bladder cancer effects both in vitro and in vivo by suppressing migration/invasion, inducing apoptosis and crucially activating autophagy, where blocking autophagy with chloroquine reduces its cell‐killing efficacy, suggesting its promise as a novel therapeutic candidate requiring ...

Polydatin ameliorates ovalbumin‐induced asthma in a rat model through NCOA4‐mediated ferroautophagy and ferroptosis pathway

open access: yesFEBS Open Bio, EarlyView.
In this research, a rat model of asthma was created using OVA, and polydatin served as an intervention. By inhibiting ferroautophagy mediated by NCOA4 and averting ferroptosis, polydatin has been demonstrated to reduce asthma. This work presents new ideas for investigating the mechanism of polydatin's ability to alleviate asthma, in addition to ...

Large-Scale nighttime illuminated road extraction in the BTH region of China using SDGSAT-1 nighttime light data

open access: yesInternational Journal of Digital Earth
Nighttime illuminated roads (NTIRs) are closely related to residents' nighttime travel and activities. However, traditional nighttime light (NTL) data are not highly applicable for large-scale NTIR extraction tasks because of challenges such as low ...

The global burden of kidney disease and the sustainable development goals

open access: yesBulletin of the World Health Organization, 2018
Kidney disease has been described as the most neglected chronic disease. Reliable estimates of the global burden of kidney disease require more population-based studies, but specific risks occur across the socioeconomic spectrum from poverty to affluence,

Teaching Python with team‐based learning: using cloud‐based notebooks for interactive coding education

open access: yesFEBS Open Bio, EarlyView.
This study presents a novel approach to teaching Python and bioinformatics using team‐based learning and cloud‐hosted notebooks. By integrating interactive coding into biomedical education, the method improves accessibility, student engagement, and confidence—especially for those without a computing background.
