TMC4 localizes to multiple taste cell types in the mouse taste papillae

open access: yesFEBS Open Bio, EarlyView.
Transmembrane channel‐like 4 (TMC4), a voltage‐dependent chloride channel, plays a critical role in amiloride‐insensitive salty taste transduction. TMC4 is broadly expressed in all mature taste cell types, suggesting a possible involvement of multiple cell types in this pathway.

Targeting Human α-Lactalbumin Gene Insertion into the Goat β-Lactoglobulin Locus by TALEN-Mediated Homologous Recombination. [PDF]

open access: yesPLoS ONE, 2016
Special value of goat milk in human nutrition and well being is associated with medical problems of food allergies which are caused by milk proteins such as β-lactoglobulin (BLG).

Dihydroorotate dehydrogenase (DHODH) regulates trophoblast syncytialization through organelle stress–induced cellular senescence

open access: yesFEBS Open Bio, EarlyView.
The inhibition of mitochondrial dihydroorotate dehydrogenase (DHODH) impairs syncytialization and induces cellular senescence via mitochondrial and endoplasmic reticulum stress in human trophoblast stem cells, elevating sFlt1/PlGF levels, a hallmark of placental dysfunction in hypertensive disorders of pregnancy.

Light‐Responsive Enzyme‐Loaded Nanoparticles for Tunable Adhesion and Mechanical Wound Contraction

open access: yesAdvanced Functional Materials, EarlyView.
This study presents a photoactivatable enzyme‐loaded mesoporous nanoparticle system (MPDA_PaTy) that enables light‐triggered tunable tissue adhesion and facilitates mechanical wound contraction. Controlled enzymatic crosslinking at tissue or hydrogel interfaces allows on‐demand adhesion.

Interactions between nutrition and gastrointestinal infections with parasitic nematodes in goats [PDF]

open access: yes, 2005
Parasitic nematodes of the digestive tract remain one of the main constraints to goat production both in temperate and tropical countries. The usual mode of control of these gastrointestinal nematodes (GIN) based on the repeated use of anthelmintics is

A 3D Biofabricated Disease Model Mimicking the Brain Extracellular Matrix Suitable to Characterize Intrinsic Neuronal Network Alterations in the Presence of a Breast Tumor Disseminated to the Brain

open access: yesAdvanced Functional Materials, EarlyView.
A 3D disease model is developed using customized hyaluronic‐acid‐based hydrogels supplemented with extracellular matrix (ECM) proteins resembling brain ECM properties. Neurons, astrocytes, and tumor cells are used to mimic the native brain surrounding.
