Mutational landscape of goblet cell carcinoids and adenocarcinoma ex goblet cell carcinoids of the appendix is distinct from typical carcinoids and colorectal adenocarcinomas [PDF]

open access: yesModern Pathology, 2018
There is limited data on the spectrum of molecular alterations in goblet cell carcinoids and adenocarcinoma ex goblet cell carcinoids of the appendix. We used next generation sequencing to determine mutations of potential pathogenetic and therapeutic significance in this rare group of tumors.

Appendiceal Goblet Cell Adenocarcinoma: A Historically Informed Reading of 6 Cases [PDF]

open access: yesArchives of Pathology & Laboratory Medicine, 2022
Context.— Appendiceal goblet cell adenocarcinoma is an uncommon appendiceal neoplasm that is typically diagnosed incidentally to a presentation of acute appendicitis. Over the years, there have been many changes to the histologic evaluation and classification of this neoplasm, culminating in the most recent ...

Goblet cell carcinoid of the rectum: a case report

open access: yesSurgical Case Reports, 2020
Background Goblet cell carcinoid (GCC) is a neuroendocrine tumor usually found in the appendix. GCCs exhibit characteristic findings with mixed endocrine-exocrine features such as staining positive for neuroendocrine markers and producing mucin.

Gastrointestinal Goblet Cell Adenocarcinomas Harbor Distinctive Clinicopathological, Immune, and Genomic Landscape

open access: yesFrontiers in Oncology, 2021
Goblet cell adenocarcinoma (GCA) is a rare amphicrine tumor and difficult to diagnose. GCA is traditionally found in the appendix, but extra-appendiceal GCA may be underestimated.

Amphicrine Carcinoma of the Duodenum: A Rare Entity [PDF]

open access: yesJournal of Clinical and Diagnostic Research
Amphicrine carcinoma, in which endocrine and epithelial cell constituents are present within the same cell, is very rare. It is different from adenocarcinoma and Mixed Neuroendocrine-Non neuroendocrine neoplasms (MiNEN).

Analysis of Histologic Features Suspecting Anaplastic Lymphoma Kinase (ALK)-Expressing Pulmonary Adenocarcinoma [PDF]

open access: yesJournal of Pathology and Translational Medicine, 2015
Background: Since 2007 when anaplastic lymphoma kinase (ALK) rearrangements were discovered in non-small cell lung cancer, the ALK gene has received attention due to ALK-targeted therapy, and a notable treatment advantage has been observed in patients ...

Loss of proton‐sensing TDAG8 increases tumor progression in mouse models of colon cancer

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
Loss of the pH‐sensing receptor TDAG8 accelerates colorectal cancer progression in mice. Animals lacking TDAG8 expression had increased tumor growth, DNA damage, and recruitment of tumor‐associated immune cells, including macrophages, neutrophils, and monocytes.

Single‐Cell Transcriptomic Analysis of Tumor Heterogeneity and the Microenvironment in Pseudomyxoma Peritonei

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
This study presents a single‐cell atlas of pseudomyxoma peritonei spanning primary and paired metastatic lesions. Distinct epithelial substates, stromal remodeling, immune exclusion, lipid metabolic reprogramming, and a candidate angiogenic network were identified in metastatic lesions.

Clinical and Molecular Analyses of Intestinal Goblet Cell Acidomucins and Cysteine Metabolism [PDF]

open access: yes, 2010
Goblet cells are key contributors to intestinal mucosal barrier function through their role in production of mucins and other important secretory products, which include trefoil factor 3 (TFF3) and resistin like molecule β (RETNLB).

Mixed Goblet Cell Carcinoid-Adenocarcinoma: A Case Series [PDF]

open access: yes, 2017
INTRODUCTION: Mixed goblet cell carcinoid-adenocarcinoma (GCC) tumors are a group of rare heterogenous neoplasms of the appendix accounting for \u3c 5% of all primary appendiceal tumors. They are characterized as an intermediate between classic carcinoid
