Goblet cell carcinoid of the appendix: a specific type of carcinoma
Histopathology, 2007Aims: Goblet cell carcinoid is a poorly understood tumour of the appendix. The aim of this study was to determine whether it should be regarded as a separate entity or as a variant of classical carcinoid. Methods and results: The immunohistochemical expression pattern of 21 markers and the mutation status of KRas codon 12 were determined in 16 goblet ...

Goblet cell carcinoid of the appendix
Cancer, 1974Twelve tumors of the appendix are described which show histologic features different from both ordinary carcinoid and adenocarcinoma. The principal cell type has a close resemblance to the normal goblet cell in the epithelium of the intestinal tract. Paneth's and argentaffin cells were present in considerable numbers in some of these tumors.

Goblet cell carcinoid of the appendix
Human Pathology, 1982A goblet cell carcinoid (adenocarcinoid) of the appendix was studied ultrastructurally and found to have features at variance with those of previously reported cases. The findings support a hypothesis that adenocarcinoids represent a composite, biphasic neoplasm of two morphologically differentiated cells, each derived from a common endodermal ...

Goblet Cell Carcinoid/Carcinoma: An Update
Advances in Anatomic Pathology, 2019Goblet cell carcinoid (GCC) or goblet cell carcinoma is a unique mixed endocrine-exocrine neoplasm that is almost exclusively seen in the appendix. The hallmark of GCC is the concentric infiltration of the appendiceal wall by small tight clusters, nests or cords of tumor cells that exhibit a goblet cell morphology with a small compressed nucleus and ...

Metastatic goblet cell ‘carcinoid’
Pathology, 2013Background Goblet cell carcinoid (GCC) is a rare tumour, almost exclusively arising from the appendix. It has distinct histological features with a mixed phenotype including partial neuroendocrine differentiation, as well as intestinal type goblet cell morphology. There is a 2:1 female predominance.
