Goblet cell carcinoid of the appendix

Cancer, 1974
Twelve tumors of the appendix are described which show histologic features different from both ordinary carcinoid and adenocarcinoma. The principal cell type has a close resemblance to the normal goblet cell in the epithelium of the intestinal tract. Paneth's and argentaffin cells were present in considerable numbers in some of these tumors.

Management of goblet cell carcinoid

Journal of Surgical Oncology, 2006

Goblet cell carcinoid of the appendix

Human Pathology, 1982
A goblet cell carcinoid (adenocarcinoid) of the appendix was studied ultrastructurally and found to have features at variance with those of previously reported cases. The findings support a hypothesis that adenocarcinoids represent a composite, biphasic neoplasm of two morphologically differentiated cells, each derived from a common endodermal ...

Goblet Cell Carcinoid/Carcinoma: An Update

Advances in Anatomic Pathology, 2019
Goblet cell carcinoid (GCC) or goblet cell carcinoma is a unique mixed endocrine-exocrine neoplasm that is almost exclusively seen in the appendix. The hallmark of GCC is the concentric infiltration of the appendiceal wall by small tight clusters, nests or cords of tumor cells that exhibit a goblet cell morphology with a small compressed nucleus and ...

A study of appendiceal crypt cell adenocarcinoma (so-called goblet cell carcinoid and its related adenocarcinoma) [PDF]

open access: yesHuman Pathology, 2018
Goblet cell carcinoids (GCCs) of the appendix are rare tumors, characterized by a carcinoid-like organoid growth pattern. Despite the term carcinoid, neuroendocrine features are inconspicuous, and its behavior is distinct from carcinoid.

Metastatic goblet cell ‘carcinoid’

Pathology, 2013
Background Goblet cell carcinoid (GCC) is a rare tumour, almost exclusively arising from the appendix. It has distinct histological features with a mixed phenotype including partial neuroendocrine differentiation, as well as intestinal type goblet cell morphology. There is a 2:1 female predominance.

Goblet Cell Carcinoid Tumors (Adenocarcinoid) of the Appendix

Diseases of the Colon & Rectum, 2007
Goblet cell appendiceal carcinoids represent rare tumors that exhibit histologic features of both adenocarcinomas and neuroendocrine tumors. We present the long-term results of a series of 15 patients, focusing on clinical manifestations, diagnosis, and management.Eight male and seven female patients (median age, 52.8 years) were included.

[A Case of Goblet Cell Carcinoid].

Gan to kagaku ryoho. Cancer & chemotherapy, 2020
The patient was a 26-year-old female who had undergone conservative treatment for acute appendicitis at another clinic and was referred to our hospital for interval appendectomy. We performed a single-incision laparoscopic appendectomy, and the patient was diagnosed with goblet cell carcinoid(GCC)based on the postoperative pathological examination ...

Goblet cell carcinoid of the appendix.

International surgery, 1989
Goblet cell carcinoid of the appendix is a relatively uncommon clinical condition. Although its histogenesis remains controversial, its histological characteristics are distinctive enough not to pose a serious problem for diagnosis. The clinical behaviour of the tumor appears to lie between the typical behaviour of an ordinary carcinoid and that of a ...
