Senkyunolide I Inhibits mtDNA‐cGAS‐STING Signaling in Macrophages via Targeting VDAC1 Oligomerization to Attenuate Ulcerative Colitis

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
In macrophages, senkyunolide I (SEI) directly targets the K12 residue of VDAC1 to inhibit its stress‐induced oligomerization, a critical upstream event that effectively prevents mitochondrial DNA release and subsequent cGAS‐STING pathway activation.

Generation of Nasal Cell‐Derived Human Alveolar Organoids and Organoid‐Macrophage Assembloids for in Vitro Lung Modeling

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
This study demonstrates the generation of human alveolar organoids from nasal cells, which, when co‐cultured with monocyte‐derived macrophages, promotes maturation of both components and forms alveolar assembloids resembling native alveoli. These alveolar organoids and assembloids offer accessible, physiologically relevant in vitro systems for ...

Zebrafish Agr2 is required for terminal differentiation of intestinal goblet cells.

open access: yesPLoS ONE, 2012
BackgroundMammalian Anterior Gradient 2 (AGR2) is a protein disulfide isomerase that is required for the production of intestinal mucus and Paneth and goblet cell homeostasis. However, whether increased endoplasmic reticulum (ER) stress occurs in Agr2(-/-

Highly Sensitive Spatial Host‐Microbiome Transcriptomics in FFPE Tissues via Iterative Hydrogel Expansion

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
Ex‐spRandom is a spatial transcriptomics platform that synergizes random‐primed chemistry with iterative hydrogel expansion. By physically decrowding the dense FFPE matrix, this scalable technology shatters the traditional resolution‐sensitivity barrier.

Ultrastructural and histological study of intestine of adult Nile Tilapia (Oreochromis Niloticus) [PDF]

open access: yesBenha Veterinary Medical Journal
The tilapia intestine is essential for both digestion and nutrient absorption, making its structural analysis crucial for understanding its functional adaptations. This study sought to examine the histological, ultrastructural, and histochemical features

Notch2 Is Required for Inflammatory Cytokine-Driven Goblet Cell Metaplasia in the Lung

open access: yesCell Reports, 2015
The balance and distribution of epithelial cell types is required to maintain tissue homeostasis. A hallmark of airway diseases is epithelial remodeling, leading to increased goblet cell numbers and an overproduction of mucus.

The potency of native postbiotics and paraprobiotics in modulating inflammation by affecting the gut–kidney axis

open access: yesAnimal Models and Experimental Medicine, EarlyView.
Native postbiotics and paraprobiotics derived from Lactobacillus and Bifidobacterium strains were administered to dextran sulfate sodium–treated C57BL/6 mice to evaluate their impact on kidney inflammation via the gut–kidney axis. Histological analysis and quantitative polymerase chain reaction of autophagy‐related genes (atg5, atg7, atg12, atg13 ...

Role of epidermal growth factor receptor activation in regulating mucin synthesis

open access: yesRespiratory Research, 2001
Healthy individuals have few goblet cells in their airways, but in patients with hypersecretory diseases goblet-cell upregulation results in mucus hypersecretion, airway plugging, and death.

Application of light microscopical and ultrastructural immunohistochemistry in the study of goblet cell carcinoid in the appendix

open access: yesWorld Journal of Surgical Oncology, 2008
Background Goblet cell carcinoids appear less frequently in the appendix than do other carcinoids. In the presented work a case with a goblet cell carcinoid of the appendix is described.
