Diaton tonometry: an assessment of validity and preference against Goldmann tonometry

Clinical & Experimental Ophthalmology, 2011
AbstractBackground:  To assess agreement between the Diaton, a new transpalpebral tonometer, and Goldmann applanation tonometry, the accepted gold standard.Design:  Comparative study of two devices in a hospital setting.Participants:  Two hundred and fifty‐one patients attending the eye casualty and general ophthalmology clinics at St James' University

APPLAMATIC TONOMETRY-GOLDMANN TONOMETRY-A PAIRED-READING COMPARISON STUDY

Optometry and Vision Science, 1974
ABSTRACT A paired‐reading study was performed to determine the effectiveness of the Applamatic tonometer as a clinical instrument by comparing its findings to Goldmann tonometric readings. The results reported that the instrument is a poor indicator of the Goldmann findings. There was no difference in whether a scleral or corneal site

Accuracy of Goldmann tonometry after refractive surgery

Journal of Cataract and Refractive Surgery, 1997
To assess the accuracy of Goldmann tonometry after refractive surgery.Refractive surgery center, Sherbrooke, Quebec, Canada. The charts of 824 patients who had radial keratotomy (RK) and 415 who had photorefractive keratectomy (PRK) by the same surgeon were retrospectively reviewed.

Multiparameter Correction Equation for Goldmann Applanation Tonometry

Optometry and Vision Science, 2011
ABSTRACT Purpose. To develop a correction factor to improve the accuracy of intraocular pressure (IOP) measurements made by the Goldmann applanation tonometer (GAT), which considers the combined effects of variations in central corneal thickness (CCT), central anterior curvature (R), age, and ...

Evaluation of discomfort of Goldmann tonometry without anaesthetic.

Ophthalmic & physiological optics : the journal of the British College of Ophthalmic Opticians (Optometrists), 2010
Goldmann applanation tonometry (GAT) is considered the gold standard technique for tonometry. It is a procedure involving administration of topical anaesthetic (a drug which could have several side effects). This prevents a large number of vision care practitioners from using GAT, due to legal restrictions regarding the use of these ophthalmic drugs ...

Effect of laser in situ keratomileusis on rebound tonometry and Goldmann applanation tonometry

Journal of Cataract and Refractive Surgery, 2010
To determine the influence of refractive surgery on intraocular pressure (IOP) measurements obtained using an iCare rebound tonometer and a Goldmann applanation tonometer.School of Optometry, Hong Kong Polytechnic University, Hong Kong, China.Intraocular pressure was measured using the rebound tonometer and applanation tonometer before and 1 month ...

A Clinical Comparison of Dynamic Contour Tonometry Versus Goldmann Applanation Tonometry

Ophthalmic Surgery, Lasers and Imaging Retina, 2010
Background and Objective: To compare the intraocular pressures (IOP) obtained with dynamic contour tonometry (DCT) and Goldmann applanation tonometry (GAT) and to determine the dependency of both devices on corneal structure.

Goldmann Applanation Tonometry Versus Dynamic Contour Tonometry After Vitrectomy

Journal of Glaucoma, 2016
Purpose: The aim of the study was to investigate the agreement of intraocular pressure (IOP) measurement using dynamic contour tonometry (DCT) and Goldmann applanation tonometry (GAT) in eyes after vitrectomy with intraocular gas endotamponade, in eyes after vitrectomy with no tamponade, and in controls.

Comparison of the Icare rebound tonometry with the Goldmann applanation tonometry in a pediatric population

Journal of American Association for Pediatric Ophthalmology and Strabismus, 2015
We report the results of a comparative study at a single center on 214 eyes of 109 pediatric patients in whom IOP was measured using the Icare rebound tonometer and Goldmann applanation tonometry. Measurements from the two modalities demonstrated a correlation coefficient of 0.83 (P < 0.001), with Icare measuring on average 1.38 mm Hg higher.
