Populations of the Short‐eared Owl Asio flammeus have declined across Europe and North America, probably in response to habitat degradation driven by agricultural intensification. However, long‐term evidence linking farmland habitat change to variation in breeding density and reproductive success remains limited.

In 2016, a total of 1,957 cases of gonorrhoea were reported in Ireland, giving a notification rate of 41.1 per 100,000 population. This is a 51% increase on the notification rate in 2015 (27.2 per 100,000).
