Improved time-interval analysis

open access: yes, 2013
Several extensions of the halflife analysis method recently suggested by Horvat and Hardy are put forward. Goodness-of-fit testing is included, and the method is extended to cases where more information is available for each decay event which allows ...

Strength through diversity: how cancers thrive when clones cooperate

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
Intratumor heterogeneity can offer direct benefits to the tumor through cooperation between different clones. In this review, Kuiken et al. discuss existing evidence for clonal cooperativity to identify overarching principles, and highlight how novel technological developments could address remaining open questions.

Detection of circulating tumor DNA in colorectal cancer patients using a methylation‐specific droplet digital PCR multiplex

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
We developed a cost‐effective methylation‐specific droplet digital PCR multiplex assay containing tissue‐conserved and tumor‐specific methylation markers. The assay can detect circulating tumor DNA with high accuracy in patients with localized and metastatic colorectal cancer.

Hierarchical Archimedean Copulas for MATLAB and Octave: The HACopula Toolbox

open access: yesJournal of Statistical Software, 2020
To extend the current implementation of copulas in MATLAB to non-elliptical distributions in arbitrary dimensions enabling for asymmetries in the tails, the toolbox HACopula provides functionality for modeling with hierarchical (or nested) Archimedean ...

Transcriptional network analysis of PTEN‐protein‐deficient prostate tumors reveals robust stromal reprogramming and signs of senescent paracrine communication

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
Combining PTEN protein assessment and transcriptomic profiling of prostate tumors, we uncovered a network enriched in senescence and extracellular matrix (ECM) programs associated with PTEN loss and conserved in a mouse model. We show that PTEN‐deficient cells trigger paracrine remodeling of the surrounding stroma and this information could help ...

Frequentist tests for Bayesian models

open access: yes, 2016
Analogues of the frequentist chi-square and F tests are proposed for testing goodness-of-fit and consistency for Bayesian models. Simple examples exhibit these tests' detection of inconsistency between consecutive experiments with identical parameters ...

Next‐generation proteomics improves lung cancer risk prediction

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
This is one of very few studies that used prediagnostic blood samples from participants of two large population‐based cohorts. We identified, evaluated, and validated an innovative protein marker model that outperformed an established risk prediction model and criteria employed by low‐dose computed tomography in lung cancer screening trials.

Nonparametric analysis of household labour supply: Goodness-of-fit and power of the unitary and the collective model. [PDF]

open access: yes
We compare the empirical performance of the unitary and the collective approach to modelling observed labour supply behaviour. Deviating from the mainstream literature, we conduct a nonparametric analysis, which avoids the distortive impact of an ...

Testing for goodness rather than lack of fit of an X-chromosomal SNP to the Hardy-Weinberg model.

open access: yesPLoS ONE, 2019
The problem of checking the genotype distribution obtained for some diallelic marker for compatibility with the Hardy-Weinberg equilibrium (HWE) condition arises also for loci on the X chromosome.

Computationally Efficient Goodness-of-Fit Tests for the Error Distribution in Nonparametric Regression

open access: yesRevstat Statistical Journal, 2018
Several procedures have been proposed for testing goodness-of-fit to the error distribution in nonparametric regression models. The null distribution of the associated test statistics is usually approximated by means of a parametric bootstrap which ...
