Guaiane Sesquiterpenoids from the Gorgonian Menella woodin [PDF]
Two new guaiane derivatives (1 and 2) along with six known sesquiterpenoids (3-8) were isolated from the gorgonian Menella woodin. Their structures were elucidated by ID and 2D NMR and HRESIMS data as well as by comparison of their spectra with those in the literature.

Abstract Coral biomineralization typically yields either aragonite (in most scleractinians) or calcite (in octocorals), yet the drivers of this polymorph choice remain debated. Here we report a deep‐sea gorgonian coral (Callogorgia sp.) with a coaxial calcite–aragonite–calcite skeleton.

Association between the squat lobster Gastroptychus formosus and cold-water corals in the North Atlantic [PDF]
Although there are no previous descriptions of the habits of chirostylids in the North Atlantic, it is likely that species in the genera Uroptychus, Eumunida and Gastroptychus have close ecological ties with deep-sea corals since they have all been ...

Highly Variable Bacterial Communities Associated with the Octocoral Antillogorgia elisabethae
Antillogorgia elisabethae (synonymous with Pseudopterogorgia elisabethae) is a common branching octocoral in Caribbean reef ecosystems. A. elisabethae is a rich source of anti-inflammatory diterpenes, thus this octocoral has been the subject of numerous ...
