Seasonal dynamism or model realism: What drives better predictions of landscape connectivity?

open access: yesEcosphere, Volume 17, Issue 9, September 2026.
Abstract Connectivity modeling is central to conservation science, yet most studies assume static landscapes and fixed species‐habitat preferences, thus overlooking seasonal dynamics. Additionally, many rely on simplistic species‐habitat associations rather than realistic movement models that mechanistically capture animal behavior.

Artificial Intelligence and Machine Learning for Oxygen Reduction Reaction: A Review on Catalyst Discovery and Durability Modeling

open access: yesElectroanalysis, Volume 38, Issue 9, September 2026.
The oxygen reduction reaction (ORR) at the proton exchange membrane fuel cells (PEMFC) cathode suffers from sluggish kinetics, high platinum loading requirements, and progressive catalyst degradation. This review examines how artificial intelligence (AI) and machine learning (ML) are reshaping the discovery and durability assessment of ORR ...

Fractional List Packing for Layered Graphs

open access: yesJournal of Graph Theory, Volume 113, Issue 1, Page 19-37, September 2026.
ABSTRACT The fractional list packing number χ ℓ • ( G ) of a graph G is a graph invariant that has recently arisen from the study of disjoint list‐colourings. It measures how large the lists of a list‐assignment L : V ( G ) → 2 N need to be to ensure the existence of a “perfectly balanced” probability distribution on proper L‐colourings, that is, such ...

A Novel Preclinical Rat Model of Acute Compartment Syndrome

open access: yesJournal of Orthopaedic Research, Volume 44, Issue 9, September 2026.
ABSTRACT Acute compartment syndrome (ACS) is common in trauma, challenging early diagnosis and treatment. An accurate ACS model is vital for its management. Most prior animal models have induced intrafascial hypertension by exogenous interventions, focusing on the study of secondary injury post‐ACS formation.

Extreme Rainfall Estimation Methods: A Review

open access: yesMeteorological Applications, Volume 33, Issue 5, September/October 2026.
The figure illustrates the topics we cover and their inter‐relationships. Extreme value models assign probabilities to rainfall depths, often using regionalisation. They may also allow variation with season, duration, climate epoch or the spatial extent of rainfall. The resulting storm depths can be assigned spatial and/or temporal profiles.
