Characterization and daily variation of nitrate reductase in Gracilaria tenuistipitata (Rhodophyta)
Biochemical and Biophysical Research Communications, 2002A daily rhythm in the activity of nitrate reductase (NR: EC 1.6.6.1) isolated from the marine red algae Gracilaria tenuistipitata is shown to be attributable to changes in amounts of the protein. The enzyme was purified in four steps: ion exchange Q-Sepharose separation, ammonium sulfate precipitation, gel filtration on Sephacryl S-300, and affinity ...

Chromosomal and mutagenic study of the marine macroalga, Gracilaria tenuistipitata
Journal of Applied Phycology, 1995A pressing need of algal aquaculture is the availability of strains with favourable characteristics. Since this goal cannot be achieved easily by traditional breeding methods for Gracilaria tenuistipitata, we developed mutagenesis and selection procedures that bypass the necessity for protoplast isolation and cultivation.

The influence of nitrogen on ribulose‐1.5‐bisphosphate carboxylase/oxygenase (Rubisco. EC 4.1.1.39) content is poorly understood in macroalgae. N‐deficient Gracilaria tenuistipitata Zhang et Xia var. liui was cultivated in the laboratory under constant light intensity and temperature. Biochemical and physiological variables were monitored after a high (
