Physico-chemical and gel properties of agar from Gracilaria tenuistipitata from the lake of Songkhla, Thailand

Food Hydrocolloids, 2015
Physico-chemical and gelling properties of agar extracted from Gracilaria tenuistipitata as affected by alkaline pretreatments using NaOH and KOH at various levels (3–7%, w/v) were investigated. Yield of native agar was 17.1%, whilst those of agars pretreated with NaOH and KOH ranged from 23.6% to 26.1%. Agar with alkaline pretreatment generally showed

Effects of changes of irradiance on the pigment composition of Gracilaria tenuistipitata var. liui Zhang et Xia

Journal of Photochemistry and Photobiology B: Biology, 1999
In plants, excess irradiation can damage the photosynthetic apparatus, although some protective mechanisms exist. The excess energy can be dissipated as thermal energy, and pigments (i.e., carotenoids) also play an important role in protecting the photosynthetic apparatus by epoxidating reactions.

Induction of phosphorus deficiency and phosphatase activity by salinity (NaCl) stress in Gracilaria tenuistipitata (Gigartinales, Rhodophyta)

Phycologia, 1999
Abstract The role of phosphorus (P) deficiency in the induction of phosphatase activity by salinity stress has been investigated in a brackish red macroalga Gracilaria tenuistipitata var. liui Zhang et Xia by determining changes in the intracellular concentrations of P and the specific activities of cellular acid (ACP; EC 3.1.3.2) and alkaline (AP; EC ...

Cloning and characterization of chloroplast ribosomal protein-encoding genes, rpl16 and rps3, of the marine macro-algae, Gracilaria tenuistipitata

Gene, 1990
In Gracilaria tenuistipitata, a highly differentiated multicellular member of the marine red algae, Rhodophyta, chloroplast (cp) DNA can be separated as a satellite band from the nuclear DNA in a CsCl gradient. Using a heterologous probe from Chlamydomonas, the ribosomal protein-encoding gene, rpl16, was located on a 4.5-kb EcoRI fragment of cp DNA ...
