Therapeutic strategies for MMAE‐resistant bladder cancer through DPP4 inhibition

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
We established monomethyl auristatin E (MMAE)‐resistant bladder cancer (BC) cell lines by exposure to progressively increasing concentrations of MMAE in vitro. RNA sequencing showed DPP4 expression was increased in MMAE‐resistant BC cells. Both si‐DPP4 and the DPP4 inhibitor sitagliptin suppressed the viability of MMAE‐resistant BC cells.

A study of flavonoid inhibitors against Monkeypox H1 phosphatase

open access: yesJournal of Enzyme Inhibition and Medicinal Chemistry
Poxviruses regulate their replication cycle through host phosphorylation pathways, with dual-specific phosphatase H1(DUSP-H1) playing a key role in immune evasion by dephosphorylating STAT1 and inhibiting interferon(IFN) responses.

Storage stability of anti-Salmonella Typhimurium immunoglobulin Y in immunized quail eggs stored at 4°C

open access: yesIndian Journal of Animal Sciences, 2020
Chicken egg yolk antibodies (IgYs) are extensively used for immunotherapy and immunodiagnostic purposes. Oral immunotherapy with specific IgYs is established as an efficient alternative to traditional antibiotic therapy in human and animals.

Recurrent cancer‐associated ERBB4 mutations are transforming and confer resistance to targeted therapies

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
We show that the majority of the 18 analyzed recurrent cancer‐associated ERBB4 mutations are transforming. The most potent mutations are activating, co‐operate with other ERBB receptors, and are sensitive to pan‐ERBB inhibitors. Activating ERBB4 mutations also promote therapy resistance in EGFR‐mutant lung cancer.

TRAIL‐PEG‐Apt‐PLGA nanosystem as an aptamer‐targeted drug delivery system potential for triple‐negative breast cancer therapy using in vivo mouse model

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
Aptamers are used both therapeutically and as targeting agents in cancer treatment. We developed an aptamer‐targeted PLGA–TRAIL nanosystem that exhibited superior therapeutic efficacy in NOD/SCID breast cancer models. This nanosystem represents a novel biotechnological drug candidate for suppressing resistance development in breast cancer.

Blending arts and sciences: gimmick or necessity? [PDF]

open access: yes, 2008
The shortage of degree qualified engineers in the UK is well documented. On the other hand the surplus of art and design graduates is growing. Whilst acknowledging the shortage in engineering graduates, there is also the need to recognise the breadth and
