Overview and Analysis of Paddy Rice Quality in China from 2020 to 2024

open access: yesLiang you shipin ke-ji
In order to obtain information on the quality and nutritional resources of major rice varieties in China and clarify the resource endowment of rice production, this study collected 3 870 samples of japonica rice and 4 169 samples of indica rice ...

The origin of Wx la provides new insights into the improvement of grain quality in rice

open access: yesJournal of Integrative Plant Biology, 2020
Appearance and taste are important factors in rice (Oryza sativa) grain quality. Here, we investigated the taste scores and related eating‐quality traits of 533 diverse cultivars to assess the relationships between—and genetic basis of—rice taste and ...

Reduction in Renal Relapse and Preservation of Long‐Term Kidney Function After Lupus Low Disease Activity in Patients With Lupus Nephritis

open access: yesArthritis Care &Research, EarlyView.
Objective Lupus low disease activity state (LLDAS) is a validated treatment target in systemic lupus erythematosus (SLE), but limited studies have explored the role of LLDAS in lupus nephritis (LN). This study aims to investigate the frequency and predictors of LLDAS attainment and its benefit on LN relapse and renal function preservation in patients ...

Long‐Term Opioids in Gout: A Matched Cohort Study From the Veterans Health Administration

open access: yesArthritis Care &Research, EarlyView.
Objective Though used frequently to treat flare, risk of long‐term opioid exposure in gout has not been well defined. In this study, we examined the hypothesis that people with gout are more likely than individuals without gout to be prescribed long‐term opioids over time.

Identifying High‐Impact Solutions to Address Racial and Ethnic Health Disparities in Lupus: A Consensus‐Based Approach

open access: yesArthritis Care &Research, EarlyView.
Objective We conducted formative research aimed at identifying solutions that address inequitable health outcomes in lupus due to adverse social determinants of health (SDoH). Methods We conducted a search for keywords, which provided insights into potential solutions and initiatives underway. An advisory panel of lupus experts iteratively reviewed the

Creating novel Wx alleles with fine‐tuned amylose levels and improved grain quality in rice by promoter editing using CRISPR/Cas9 system

open access: yesPlant Biotechnology Journal, 2020
In rice, the Waxy (Wx) gene encoding GBSSI (granule-bound starch synthase I) controls amylose synthesis in endosperm and is the primary factor influencing grain eating and cooking quality (ECQ).

Enhancing Corrosion Resistance and Mechanical Strength of 3D‐Printed Iron Polylactic Acid for Marine Applications via Laser Surface Texturing

open access: yesAdvanced Engineering Materials, EarlyView.
Laser surface texturing significantly improves the corrosion resistance and mechanical strength of 3D‐printed iron polylactic acid (Ir‐PLA) for marine applications. Optimal laser parameters reduce corrosion by 80% and enhance tensile strength by 25% and ductility by 15%.

Genome-wide association study reveals that different pathways contribute to grain quality variation in sorghum (Sorghum bicolor)

open access: yesBMC Genomics, 2020
In sorghum (Sorghum bicolor), one paramount breeding objective is to increase grain quality. The nutritional quality and end use value of sorghum grains are primarily influenced by the proportions of tannins, starch and proteins, but the genetic basis of

Dynamic Precipitation during High‐Pressure Torsion of a Magnesium–Manganese Alloy

open access: yesAdvanced Engineering Materials, EarlyView.
An ultrafine‐grained alloy is produced by high‐pressure torsion of solutionized Mg–1.35 wt% Mn. Precipitation of nanometer‐scale Mn particles during deformation provides pinning sites. This prevents the formation of a bimodal grain structure and results in a finer grain size than for pure Mg.
