Information Transmission Strategies for Self‐Organized Robotic Aggregation

open access: yesAdvanced Robotics Research, EarlyView.
In this review, we discuss how information transmission influences the neighbor‐based self‐organized aggregation of swarm robots. We focus specifically on local interactions regarding information transfer and categorize previous studies based on the functions of the information exchanged.

An AI‐Enabled All‐In‐One Visual, Proximity, and Tactile Perception Multimodal Sensor

open access: yesAdvanced Robotics Research, EarlyView.
Targeting integrated multimodal perception of robots, an AI‐enabled all‐in‐one multimodal sensor is proposed. This sensor is capable of perceiving three types of modalities, including vision, proximity, and tactility. By toggling an ultraviolet light and adjusting the camera focus, it switches smoothly between multiple perceptual modalities, enabling ...

Improving the Robustness of Visual Teach‐and‐Repeat Navigation Using Drift Error Correction and Event‐Based Vision for Low‐Light Environments

open access: yesAdvanced Robotics Research, EarlyView.
Visual teach‐and‐repeat (VTR) navigation allows robots to learn and follow routes without building a full metric map. We show that navigation accuracy for VTR can be improved by integrating a topological map with error‐drift correction based on stereo vision.

Grain Refinement Efficiency

2021
New results on grain refinement of aluminium are presented by using the efficiency concept, which is a powerful tool to compare the nucleation efficiency of different grain refiners. This involves the calculation of nucleation sites per unit volume, which gives much more information about nucleation than intercept grain size.

Effect of dynamic recrystallization on texture orientation and grain refinement of Ti6Al4V titanium alloy subjected to laser shock peening

, 2021
In this paper, using electron backscatter diffraction (EBSD) and transmission electron microscope (TEM) characterization, we systematically investigated the dynamic recrystallization (DRX) mechanism and its effects on the texture orientation and grain ...

Achieving high ductility in a selectively laser melted commercial pure-titanium via in-situ grain refinement

, 2021
Grain refinement of additively manufactured titanium and titanium alloys can be promoted via adding foreign elements or particles, but it may lead to a reduction in ductility due to the formation of brittle intermetallic compounds.

Ultrasonic induces grain refinement in gas tungsten arc cladding AlCoCrFeNi high-entropy alloy coatings

Materials Science & Engineering: A, 2021
High-entropy alloys (HEA) are promising coating and structural materials for their excellent mechanical and corrosion properties, but the problems like coarse grain hinder the application. Ultrasonic treatment generally has the effect of grain refinement.

Grain refinement and crack inhibition of selective laser melted AA2024 aluminum alloy via inoculation with TiC–TiH2

, 2021
AA2024 aluminum alloy easily forms coarse columnar grains and cracks during selective laser melting (SLM). Herein, a novel grain refiner composed of TiC nanoparticles and TiH2 powders was used to develop the microstructure of selective laser melted ...
