Charging of Aggregate Grains in Astrophysical Environments
The charging of dust grains in astrophysical environments has been investigated with the assumption these grains are homogeneous spheres. However, there is evidence which suggests many grains in astrophysical environments are irregularly-shaped ...

Excellent combinations of strength and impact toughness are obtained in a bilayer composite of high‐strength carbide‐free bainitic (CFB) steel and high‐ductility twinning‐induced plasticity (TWIP) steel. The composite absorbs energy at small strains when the notch is placed on the TWIP side and at high strains when the notch is placed on the CFB side ...

A comprehensive review of in planta stable transformation strategies
Plant transformation remains a major bottleneck to the improvement of plant science, both on fundamental and practical levels. The recalcitrant nature of most commercial and minor crops to genetic transformation slows scientific progress for a large ...

Kinematic Segregation of Flowing Grains in Sandpiles
We study the segregation of granular mixtures in two-dimensional silos using a set of coupled equations for surface flows of grains. We study the thick flow regime, where the grains are segregated in the rolling phase.

Interstellar grains within interstellar grains
Five interstellar graphite spherules extracted from the Murchison carbonaceous meteorite are studied. The isotopic and elemental compositions of individual particles are investigated with the help of an ion microprobe, and this analysis is augmented with structural studies of ultrathin sections of the grain interiors by transmission electron microscopy.

This study reports the fabrication of trabecular bioactive glass scaffolds (composition “1d”: 46.1SiO2‐28.7CaO‐8.8MgO‐6.2P2O5‐5.7CaF2‐4.5Na2O wt%) through vat photopolymerization and the relevant results from mechanical testing and in vivo implantation procedures in rabbit femora, showing great promise for bone tissue engineering applications.

Delaying leaf senescence in plants, especially under water stress conditions, can help to maintain the remobilization of stored nutrients in source–sink relationships, thus leading to improved crop yields. Leaf senescence can be delayed by plant hormones

Barley Weed Control Trial [PDF]
Demand for local, organic grains has been increasing in recent years as businesses such as flour mills, malt houses, and bakeries have grown and developed business models to include a higher proportion of local ingredients in their products.

Modelling dust processing and the evolution of grain sizes in the ISM using the method of moments
Interstellar dust grains do not have a single well-defined origin. Stars are demonstrably dust producers, but also efficient destroyers of cosmic dust. Dust destruction in the ISM is believed to be the result of SN shocks hitting the ambient ISM gas (and
