A Workflow to Accelerate Microstructure‐Sensitive Fatigue Life Predictions

open access: yesAdvanced Engineering Materials, EarlyView.
This study introduces a workflow to accelerate predictions of microstructure‐sensitive fatigue life. Results from frameworks with varying levels of simplification are benchmarked against published reference results. The analysis reveals a trade‐off between accuracy and model complexity, offering researchers a practical guide for selecting the optimal ...

Analytic formulas for frequency and size dependence of absorption and scattering efficiencies of astronomical polycyclic aromatic hydrocarbons

open access: yes, 2012
In a series of two recent papers, the frequency and size distribution dependence of extinction spectra for astronomical silicate and graphite grains was analyzed by us in the context of MRN type interstellar dust models.

Interactions between Molten High‐Silicon Electrical Steels and Carbon‐Bonded MgO Refractories Based on Recyclates

open access: yesAdvanced Engineering Materials, EarlyView.
This study examines how several molten high‐silicon electrical steels interact with both conventional and recycled MgO–C refractories. For this, various immersion experiments are conducted. In addition to infiltration, a number of mechanisms are identified and explained that control the corrosion of the refractory material.

Comprehensive Nutrition Review of Grain-Based Muesli Bars in Australia: An Audit of Supermarket Products

open access: yesFoods, 2019
Muesli bars are consumed by 16% of children, and 7.5% of adults, and are classified as discretionary in Australian Dietary Guidelines, containing “higher fat and added sugars” compared with core food choices.

Sub-mm observations and modelling of Vega type stars

open access: yes, 2003
We present new sub-mm observations and modelling of Vega excess stars, using realistic dust grain models. For resolved disks, we find that different objects require very different dust grain properties in order to simultaneously fit the image data and ...

Interaction between Molten Al‐Killed Mn–B Steel and Carbon‐Bonded MgO Refractories Based on Recyclates

open access: yesAdvanced Engineering Materials, EarlyView.
High‐temperature interactions between low‐sulfur Al‐killed Mn–B steel and MgO–C refractories (0 and 50 wt% recyclates) are studied via finger immersion tests (1600 °C). Surface‐active elements influence infiltration. MgO/CaS layer forms, along with spinel and calcium silicate.

Multi-omics analysis reveals the response mechanism of Pichia kudriavzevii to high-concentration lactic acid stress

open access: yesAMB Express
Pichia kudriavzevii tolerance mechanisms are not well understood, even though strong-flavor Baijiu fermentation places a heavy burden on yeast metabolism due to the accumulation of lactic acid (LA).
