Thiamine Allocation and Deficiency Status Throughout the Life Cycle of Cod

open access: yesEcology and Evolution, Volume 16, Issue 1, January 2026.
Throughout the life cycle of fish, the allocation of micronutrients like thiamine (vitamin B1) shifts. Especially reproduction appears to be taxing, as any excess thiamine gets allocated to reproductive tissues while somatic tissues are kept at functionally sufficient concentrations.

Fermentation‐Assisted Valorization: A Sustainable Strategy for Turning Fruit By‐Products Into Value‐Added Food Supplements

open access: yesFood Frontiers, Volume 7, Issue 1, January 2026.
ABSTRACT A substantial proportion of fresh fruit undergoes processing, resulting in underutilized fruit by‑products (FBPs) that are rich in dietary fiber and bioactive compounds. Recent FBP valorization trends demonstrate that fermentation significantly enhances microbiological, nutritional, and sensory attributes, yielding value‑added food supplements.

Shelf‐Life Extension of Chicken Fillets Using Flaxseed Mucilage Coatings Incorporated With Bixin‐Allicin or Bixin‐Orange Peel Essential Oil Nanoemulsions

open access: yesFood Science &Nutrition, Volume 14, Issue 1, January 2026.
Flaxseed mucilage incorporated with bixin‐allicin or bixin‐orange peel oil nanoemulsions significantly extended the shelf‐life and quality of fresh chicken fillets. ABSTRACT This study evaluated the properties of orange peel essential oil (OPE) and allicin emulsions and their efficacy in flaxseed mucilage‐bixin (FM‐B) coating for preserving chicken ...
