Grand Unified Origin of Gauge Interactions and Families Replication in the Standard Model

open access: yesUniverse, 2021
The tremendous phenomenological success of the Standard Model (SM) suggests that its flavor structure and gauge interactions may not be arbitrary but should have a fundamental first-principle explanation.

Resurrection of Grand Unified Theory Baryogenesis [PDF]

open access: yesPhysical Review Letters, 2002
A `new' scenario is proposed for baryogenesis. We show that delayed decay of coloured Higgs particles in grand unified theories may generate excess baryon number of the empirically desired amount, if the mass of the heaviest neutrino is in the range $0.02 {\rm eV}

Are there minimal exceptional aGUTs from stable 5D orbifolds?

open access: yesEuropean Physical Journal C: Particles and Fields
In analysing five dimensional orbifolds with exceptional gauge groups, we seek to find stable vacua configurations which satisfy the minimal requirements for asymptotic grand unified models.

Sterile neutrinos in string derived models

open access: yesEuropean Physical Journal C: Particles and Fields, 2018
The MiniBooNE collaboration recently reported further evidence for the existence of sterile neutrinos, implying substantial mixing with the left-handed active neutrinos and at a comparable mass scale.

Does a Theory of Everything Exist?

open access: yesФилософия и космология, 2021
Since Einstein’s failure to define a Grand Unified Theory, physicists have pursued a comprehensive theory explaining nature, a Theory of Everything. But because General Relativity, Quantum Field Theory, and Cosmology have little in common, defining one ...

Hospitalization Through Families’ Eyes: Comparing Inpatient Care Quality for Children With Sickle Cell Disease and Cystic Fibrosis in Canada

open access: yesPediatric Blood &Cancer, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT Background Sickle cell disease (SCD) is a chronic, inherited hemoglobinopathy that requires frequent hospitalization for disease‐related complications. Canadian data on inpatient care is limited. This study compared caregiver‐reported hospital experiences of children with SCD to those with cystic fibrosis (CF), a chronic, autosomal recessive ...

Phenomenology of nonuniversal gaugino masses in supersymmetric grand unified theories [PDF]

open access: yes, 2005
Grand unified theories can lead to nonuniversal boundary conditions for the gaugino masses at the unification scale. We consider the implications of such nonuniversal boundary conditions for the composition of the lightest neutralino as well as for the ...

Time Toxicity in Wilms Tumor: Quantifying the Burden of Healthcare Interaction in the First Year After Diagnosis

open access: yesPediatric Blood &Cancer, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT Background Wilms tumor (WT) treatment imposes a significant time burden on patients and their families. Time toxicity is a patient‐centered metric that quantifies the burden of healthcare interaction. We sought to define time toxicity in the first year after diagnosis of WT and hypothesized that it would increase as tumor stage and treatment ...

Emapalumab for Immune Effector Cell‐Associated Hemophagocytic Lymphohistiocytosis‐Like Syndrome Following CD19‐Directed CAR‐T in Two Patients With B‐ALL: Clinical and Biomarker Correlates

open access: yesPediatric Blood &Cancer, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT Immune effector cell‐associated hemophagocytic lymphohistiocytosis‐like syndrome (IEC‐HS) is a life‐threatening hyperinflammatory toxicity distinct from cytokine release syndrome (CRS) and neurotoxicity following chimeric antigen receptor T‐cell (CAR‐T) therapy. In a single‐institution retrospective cohort of pediatric and young adult patients

Flavor changing nucleon decay

open access: yesPhysics Letters B, 2017
Recent discovery of neutrino large mixings implies the large mixings in the diagonalizing matrices of 5¯ fields in SU(5) grand unified theory (GUT), while the diagonalizing matrices of 10 fields of SU(5) are expected to have small mixings like Cabibbo ...
