Exploring the Impact of In Ovo Injection of Flavonoid‐Based Aromatase Inhibitors on Gonadal Histology Differentiation in Ross 308 Broiler Chickens

open access: yesVeterinary Medicine and Science, Volume 12, Issue 1, January 2026.
This study aimed to evaluate the in ovo injection of nettle extract, mushroom extract and their mixture as natural anti‐aromatase on sex reversal, histological changes in ovaries and testes and carcass characteristics of Ross 308 broiler chickens. Sex differentiation in avian species A completely randomized block design used to allocate 500 fertilized ...

Comprehensive Analysis of PAPPA2 Expression and Genetic Variants in Sheep and Their Association With Litter Size

open access: yesVeterinary Medicine and Science, Volume 12, Issue 1, January 2026.
ABSTRACT Background The PAPPA2 gene encodes a metalloproteinase critical for regulating insulin‐like growth factor (IGF) bioavailability through cleavage of insulin‐like growth factor‐binding protein 5 (IGFBP5). While its role in human and murine reproduction is documented, its function in sheep reproductive traits remains underexplored. Objective This

Considerations of Fertility in Elite Sportswomen: A Narrative Review

open access: yesBJOG: An International Journal of Obstetrics &Gynaecology, Volume 133, Issue 1, Page 5-17, January 2026.
ABSTRACT Background Increasingly more women are participating in professional and recreational sports. Whilst vigorous intensity physical activity is considered beneficial, evidence demonstrates higher rates of menstrual disturbance in elite athletes. There is less clear evidence on the impact of elite‐level exercise on fertility outcomes.

Spatial Transcriptomic Characteristics of the Aging Human Ovary

open access: yesAging Cell, Volume 25, Issue 1, January 2026.
Troughing constructing a comprehensive spatiotemporal aging atlas on young and aged human ovaries, we revealed distinct cell types, cellular interactions, and aging‐associated gene expression changes due to aging. Specially, we detected an increase in DLK1:NOTCH3 expression which may contribute to the dysregulation of ovarian functions.

Spatiotemporal Crosstalk Between Oocyte and the Microenvironment Governs Preovulatory Follicle Aging

open access: yesAging Cell, Volume 25, Issue 1, January 2026.
Preovulatory follicle aging is characterized by two distinct phases—early oocyte protective and late degenerative phases. The degenerative phase involves a positive feedback loop between oocyte mitochondrial dysfunction mediated by a mitochondrial‐localized microprotein PIGBOS, and granulosa cell functional decline through a circular RNA circdlg1 ...

Self‐Organizing Ovarian Somatic Organoids Preserve Cellular Heterogeneity and Reveal Cellular Contributions to Ovarian Aging

open access: yesAging Cell, Volume 25, Issue 1, January 2026.
We report the development and application of a mouse ovarian somatic organoid model to elucidate a fundamental new understanding of the cell biology of the aging ovarian microenvironment. ABSTRACT Ovarian somatic cells are essential for reproductive function, but no existing ex vivo models recapitulate the cellular heterogeneity or interactions within ...
