Identification of two novel powdery mildew resistance loci, Ren6 and Ren7, from the wild Chinese grape species Vitis piasezkii [PDF]

open access: yes, 2016
Descriptive statistics of the phenotypic scores within the base mapping population 11-373. Powdery mildew symptoms in the field were evaluated in two subsequent years.

Rpv10.2: A Haplotype Variant of Locus Rpv10 Enables New Combinations for Pyramiding Downy Mildew Resistance Traits in Grapevine

open access: yesPlants
In viticulture, pathogens like the oomycete Plasmopara viticola, the causal agent of downy mildew, can cause severe yield loss and require extensive application of plant protection chemicals.

Gombarezisztencia gének térképezése szőlőben = Mapping resistance genes against fungi in grapevine [PDF]

open access: yes, 2010
Lisztharmat (PM) és peronoszpóra (DM) rezisztencia génekkel kapcsolt markerek szelekcióra való alkalmasságát vizsgáltuk szőlő inter-és intraspecifikus térképezési populációiban.

Methylation biomarkers can distinguish pleural mesothelioma from healthy pleura and other pleural pathologies

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
We developed and validated a DNA methylation–based biomarker panel to distinguish pleural mesothelioma from other pleural conditions. Using the IMPRESS technology, we translated this panel into a clinically applicable assay. The resulting two classifier models demonstrated excellent performance, achieving high AUC values and strong diagnostic accuracy.

Identification of Vitis riparia as Donor of Black Rot Resistance in the Mapping Population V3125 x ‘Börner’ and Additive Effect of Rgb1 and Rgb2

open access: yesAgronomy
Viticulture is facing challenges, like the impact of climate change and various pests and pathogens. Alongside powdery and downy mildew, black rot is one of the most prevalent fungal diseases in European wine-growing regions.

Ecological Aspects and Conservation of Wild Grapevine Populations in the S.W. of the Iberian Peninsula [PDF]

open access: yes, 2004
Populations of wild grapevine, Vitis vinifera L. subsp. sylvestris (Gmelin) Hegi, were discovered in S.W. of the Iberian Peninsula over the last years. Location, ecological aspects, sanitary characteristics, including the ELISA test to detect specific

Perspectives in educating molecular pathologists on liquid biopsy: Toward integrative, equitable, and decentralized precision oncology

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
Liquid biopsy enables minimally invasive, real‐time molecular profiling through analysis of circulating biomarkers in biological fluids. This Perspective highlights the importance of training pathologists through integrative educational programs, such as the European Masters in Molecular Pathology, to ensure effective and equitable implementation of ...

Crucial parameters for precise copy number variation detection in formalin‐fixed paraffin‐embedded solid cancer samples

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
This study shows that copy number variations (CNVs) can be reliably detected in formalin‐fixed paraffin‐embedded (FFPE) solid cancer samples using ultra‐low‐pass whole‐genome sequencing, provided that key (pre)‐analytical parameters are optimized.

A high-throughput ResNet CNN approach for automated grapevine leaf hair quantification

open access: yesScientific Reports
The hairiness of the leaves is an essential morphological feature within the genus Vitis that can serve as a physical barrier. A high leaf hair density present on the abaxial surface of the grapevine leaves influences their wettability by repelling ...
