Graphical Methods in Statistics [PDF]
Abstract Graphical methods have played a central role in the development of statistical theory and practice. This presentation briefly reviews some of the highlights in the historical development of statistical graphics and gives a simple taxonomy that can be used to characterize the current use of graphical methods.

Extending GroupStruct2: a Bayesian and machine-learning framework for testing taxonomic hypotheses using morphometric data. [PDF]
Despite considerable advances in statistical methods, taxonomic delimitation using morphometric data (morphometric delimitation) has not significantly progressed beyond the use of simple summary statistics or univariate tests to quantify differences ...

Publication bias: Graphical and statistical methods [PDF]
Various statistical approaches and visual tools have been developed to detect, estimate, and evaluate the impact of publication bias in meta-analysis results. In this article, we present the most popular statistical methods and graphic tools to address publication bias using an example.

The communicability of graphical alternatives to tabular displays of statistical simulation studies. [PDF]
Simulation studies are often used to assess the frequency properties and optimality of statistical methods. They are typically reported in tables, which may contain hundreds of figures to be contrasted over multiple dimensions.

Graphical Methods in Statistical Analysis [PDF]
The idea of graphical presentation of statistical data is a relatively recent development as compared with geometry , algebra, or even probability theory (18). The techniques of graphical presentation of data are still rapidly de veloping, as statistical theory opens new ways of thinking about data, and as using the capabilities of modem computers ...

Structure estimation for discrete graphical models: Generalized covariance matrices and their inverses [PDF]
We investigate the relationship between the structure of a discrete graphical model and the support of the inverse of a generalized covariance matrix. We show that for certain graph structures, the support of the inverse covariance matrix of indicator ...

Using simulation studies to evaluate statistical methods [PDF]
Simulation studies are computer experiments that involve creating data by pseudorandom sampling. The key strength of simulation studies is the ability to understand the behaviour of statistical methods because some 'truth' (usually some parameter/s of ...
