Intermediate Resistive State in Wafer‐Scale Vertical MoS2 Memristors Through Lateral Silver Filament Growth for Artificial Synapse Applications

open access: yesAdvanced Functional Materials, EarlyView.
In MOCVD MoS2 memristors, a current compliance‐regulated Ag filament mechanism is revealed. The filament ruptures spontaneously during volatile switching, while subsequent growth proceeds vertically through the MoS2 layers and then laterally along the van der Waals gaps during nonvolatile switching.

Three-Dimensional Chirped High-Contrast Grating Hollow-Core Waveguide

open access: yesIEEE Photonics Journal, 2012
A 3-D chirped high-contrast grating hollow-core waveguide (HCG-HW) exhibits highly efficient 2-D (transverse and lateral) light confinement. Compared with step-index ones, laterally chirped HCG-HWs (graded index) can pronouncedly reduce the propagation ...

Optimizing Plasmonic Grating Sensors for Limit of Detection Based on a Cramer–Rao Bound

open access: yesIEEE Photonics Journal, 2010
We explore the impact of the geometrical features such as the period, duty cycle, and thickness on the performance of a metal-dielectric plasmonic grating sensor.

Color Routing and Beam Steering of Single‐Molecule Emission with a Spherical Silicon Nanoantenna

open access: yesAdvanced Functional Materials, EarlyView.
We experimentally demonstrate broadband directional emission from single molecules using a single spherical silicon nanoparticle assembled via DNA origami. By varying nanoparticle (NP) size and emitter position, we achieve unidirectional emission, beam steering, and color routing at the nanoscale, revealing modal interference as the underlying ...

Breathable Graphene Oxide‐Polymer Composite Membranes With Two‐Step Barrier Mechanism Against Nerve Agents

open access: yesAdvanced Functional Materials, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT Breathable membranes that reject chemical warfare agents (CWAs) are required for next‐generation protective apparel. A dual‐function graphene oxide (GO)‐polyamine architecture is introduced that addresses the long‐standing tradeoff between vapor transmission and CWA selectivity.

Analysis of Dispersion Characteristics of Planar Waveguides via Multi-Order Interrogation of Integrated Bragg Gratings

open access: yesIEEE Photonics Journal, 2012
We demonstrate experimentally a simple technique to measure the wavelength-dependent effective refractive index of a waveguide utilizing integrated Bragg grating structures.

Optoelectronic Synaptic Devices Using Molecular Telluride Phase‐Change Inks for Three‐Factor Learning

open access: yesAdvanced Functional Materials, EarlyView.
Optoelectronic synaptic devices based on solution‐processed molecular telluride GST‐225 phase‐change inks are demonstrated for three‐factor learning. A global optical signal broadcast through a silicon waveguide induces non‐volatile conductance updates exclusively in locally electrically flagged memristors.
