Gravity Models of the Intra-EU Trade: Application of the Hausman-Taylor Estimation in Heterogeneous Panels with Common Time-specific Factors [PDF]

open access: yes
In this paper we follow recent developments of panel data studies and explicitly allow for the existence of unobserved common time-specific factors where their individual responses are also allowed to be heterogeneous across cross section units.

Quantum Analysis of Jackiw and Teitelboim's Model for 1+1 D Gravity and Topological Gauge Theory

open access: yes, 1992
We study the BRST quantization of the 1+1 dimensional gravity model proposed by Jackiw and Teitelboim and also the topological gauge model which is equivalent to the gravity model at least classically.

3D Bioinspired Hair‐Based Solar Evaporator for Efficient Water Harvesting

open access: yesAdvanced Functional Materials, EarlyView.
A bio‐derived solar evaporator inspired by blackbody radiation is developed using human hair waste. The vertically aligned hair structure enables broadband light absorption, efficient thermal localization, and rapid water transport, achieving high evaporation rates and stable desalination performance.

Research on the Requirement Validation Process of an eVTOL Aircraft

open access: yesEngineering Proceedings
According to the SAEARP4754B standard, the positive development of electric vertical takeoff and landing (eVTOL) aircraft must carry out requirement management in order to ensure the traceability of requirements.

Dynamical Properties of the Mukhanov-Sasaki Hamiltonian in the Context of Adiabatic Vacua and the Lewis-Riesenfeld Invariant

open access: yesUniverse, 2019
We use the method of the Lewis-Riesenfeld invariant to analyze the dynamical properties of the Mukhanov-Sasaki Hamiltonian and, following this approach, investigate whether we can obtain possible candidates for initial states in the context of inflation ...

The generalized second law of thermodynamics in generalized gravity theories

open access: yes, 2008
We investigate the generalized second law of thermodynamics (GSL) in generalized theories of gravity. We examine the total entropy evolution with time including the horizon entropy, the non-equilibrium entropy production, and the entropy of all matter ...

Boosting the Energy Density of “Anode‐Free” Lithium Metal Batteries via Electrospun Polymeric Scaffolds

open access: yesAdvanced Functional Materials, EarlyView.
While host structures are known to enhance the reversibility and safety of lithium metal deposition, their additional volume and weight often decrease the battery's energy density and specific energy. By combining a lightweight and porous scaffold of electrospun polymer with a thinner separator, this article demonstrates a simultaneous improvement of ...

AdS backgrounds and induced gravity

open access: yes, 2019
In this paper we look for AdS solutions to generalised gravity theories in the bulk in various spacetime dimensions. The bulk gravity action includes the action of a non-minimally coupled scalar field with gravity, and a higher-derivative action of ...

Nature‐Inspired Sustainable Cooling for Photovoltaics with Enhanced Temperature‐Salinity Dynamics

open access: yesAdvanced Functional Materials, EarlyView.
Addressing solar panel overheating, a nature‐inspired cooling system mimicking ocean currents is developed. A moisture‐absorbing solution layer uses sunlight, radiative cooling, and moisture processes to create temperature/salinity gradients, accelerating circulation. The prototype cools panels by up to 18.2 °C under sunlight, sustains cooling, rapidly
