Dual‐Wavelength Control of Charge Accumulation in Rubrene Microcrystals with Anisotropic Conductivity

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
Rubrene microcrystals, forming two distinct sector types, are investigated using photoemission electron spectroscopy. The two sectors exhibit a built‐in charge landscape, arising from anisotropic conductivities. Upon excitation with UV light, the diamond‐shaped sectors accumulate significant charge, whereas the triangular sectors remain essentially ...

Foraging preferences of dairy cows grazing on contrasted multispecies swards

open access: yesVeterinary and Animal Science
Selective foraging has been reported in many wild and domesticated ruminants, yet modern livestock production systems rarely allow animals to express this natural behaviour.

Chiral‐Induced Spin Selectivity Effect in a 1 nm Thin 1,1′‐Binaphthyl‐2,2′‐diyl Hydrogenphosphate Self‐Assembled Monolayer on Nickel Oxide

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
A self‐assembled monolayer (≈0.9 nm) of an axially chiral binaphthol phosphoric acid derivative on a ferromagnetic Ni/NiOx substrate shows chiral‐induced spin selectivity (CISS) magnetoresistance of 50%–80%. This thermally and chemically robust functional stack shows the way towards practical spintronic devices based on the CISS effect.

Impact of social on grazing behaviour in herbivores

open access: yes, 1999
In domestic ungulates social grouping strongly influences grazing behaviour. Our paper focus on how social relationships within a group influence individual strategies for dietary choices, exploitation of feeding sites and spatial distribution in habitat. This topic is discussed on the basis of social processes in sheep, cattle, horses and deer.

Solution‐Shearing of Highly Smooth Ion‐Gel Thin Films: Facilitating the Deposition of Organic Semiconductors for Ion‐Gated Organic Field Effect Transistors

open access: yesAdvanced Electronic Materials, Volume 11, Issue 6, May 2025.
A straightforward method is introduced to produce ion‐gel films with very low surface roughness by employing a solution‐shearing coating process. These ion‐gel films permit the growth of crystalline thin films of various small molecule organic semiconductor molecules directly on top of the ion‐gel layer, thereby enabling “inverted” small molecule ...

Conformal Reconfigurable Intelligent Surfaces: A Cylindrical Geometry Perspective

open access: yesAdvanced Electronic Materials, EarlyView.
Cylindrical reconfigurable intelligent surfaces are explored for low‐complexity beam steering using one‐bit meta‐atoms. A multi‐level modeling approach, including optimization‐based synthesis, demonstrates that even minimal hardware can support directive scattering.

Influence of Bottom Electrodes on the Ferroelectric Stability of AlScN Film at High Temperatures

open access: yesAdvanced Electronic Materials, EarlyView.
The thermal stability of AlScN depends on the bottom electrode. When the bottom electrode possesses compressive stress, tensile strain develops in the AlScN upon thermal annealing, reducing the switching barrier. When the bottom electrode forms a coherent interface with AlScN, significant tensile strain and defects are generated in the AlScN layer ...

Robust and Compatible Ferroelectric Memories with Polycrystalline TiO2 Channel for 3D Integration

open access: yesAdvanced Electronic Materials, EarlyView.
Robust and monolithic 3D compatible ferroelectric memories are realized using the polycrystalline TiO2 channel‐based FeFET. The review covers physical mechanisms of the TiO2 channel FeFET, quantitative benchmarking, and advanced planar/vertical architectures for monolithic 3D integration based on HfO2‐TiO2 gate stack, offering a roadmap for reliable ...

Automatic registration of dairy cows grazing behaviour on pasture [PDF]

open access: yes, 2011
Information regarding cows grazing behaviour and time spent grazing can be of great interest to dairy farmers, since this information can indicate how well suited the pasture is to the cows.
