Application of fluidized-bed homogeneous crystallization technology to carbon sequestration and recovery from flue gas

open access: yesSustainable Environment Research
The Earth’s energy balance produced by human activity is the main factor in the complex relationship between greenhouse gases and global warming. The Taiwan Environmental Protection Agency reports that carbon dioxide makes up more than 95% of Taiwan’s ...

Probing Electrocatalyst Design for Product Selectivity in CO2 Reduction

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
Selective CO2 electroreduction is controlled by catalyst structure, dynamic surface reconstruction, adsorbate interactions, and reaction microenvironment. This review summarizes Cu‐ and non‐Cu‐based catalysts, single‐atom and molecular systems, degradation pathways, and operando/computational strategies for steering CO2RR toward hydrocarbons ...

The Plant‐to‐Plant Circular Strategy: Coupling Photodegradation and Phytoremediation With Plant‐Based Nanomaterials for Plastic Degradation

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
Plant‐based nanomaterials derived from alfalfa serve as dual‐function catalysts, coupling photodegradation and phytoremediation to degrade polyethylene under UV‐A light and in soil. The nanomaterials work synergistically with alfalfa and soil microbes, achieving efficient plastic breakdown without trophic transfer.

Bond‐Competition‐Driven Enhancement of Surface Basicity and Interfacial Interaction to Boost Photocatalytic Syngas Production

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
A synergetic surface bond competition−hybridization approach was developed to synthesize high‐performance CO2 adsorbents and syngas production photocatalysts via the sulfurization‐driven control of surface basicity and interfacial coupling. The ZnIn2S4−sulfur‐doped MgO/MgAl2O4 nanocomposites showed outstanding photocatalytic efficiency for production ...

One‐Pot Direct Recycling of Spent LiCoO2 via Synergistic Binder Defluorination and Phase Reconstruction

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
A Li+‐DES system enables targeted defluorination and synergistic repair of spent LiCoO2 cathodes in a single medium. The regenerated material recovers a well‐ordered layered structure with a high capacity of 157.4 mAh g−1 and 83.1% capacity retention after 300 cycles, demonstrating a sustainable and efficient closed‐loop recycling strategy for lithium ...

Greenhouse gas removal

open access: yes, 2020
In 2017 the Royal Society and Royal Academy of Engineering were asked by the UK Government to consider scientific and engineering views on greenhouse gas removal. This report draws on a breadth of expertise including that of the Fellowships of the two academies to identify the range of available greenhouse gas removal methods, the factors that will ...

Multi‐Scale Bionic Structure Constructs Biomass Flame‐Retardant Thermal Insulation Foam Material

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
Inspired by mussel adhesion and hierarchical brick‐and‐mortar architectures, a cellulose‐based biomimetic foam is constructed by anchoring bentonite nanosheets onto a polydopamine‐decorated cellulose nanofiber network. The resulting foam combines low thermal conductivity with intrinsic flame retardancy and full biodegradability, presenting a ...

The importance of radical transparency for responsible carbon dioxide removal

open access: yesnpj Climate Action
Carbon removal is a strongly debated component of societal efforts to address anthropogenic climate disruption, in part because efforts to scale carbon removal could delay or substitute for efforts aimed at mitigating anthropogenic greenhouse gas ...

Non-flow-through static (closed chamber) method for sampling of greenhouse gases in crop production systems

open access: yesFrontiers in Agronomy
Methods and procedures for measuring greenhouse gases vary in different aspects, which could dictate most of the decisions. Even within the same context of measurements, there are different techniques and procedures.
