Digital radiography image quality evaluation using various phantoms and software

open access: yesJournal of Applied Clinical Medical Physics, Volume 23, Issue 12, December 2022., 2022
Abstract Purpose To investigate the effect of the exposure parameters on image quality (IQ) metrics of phantom images, obtained automatically using software or from visual evaluation. Methods Three commercial phantoms and a homemade phantom constructed according to the instructions given in the IAEA Human Health Series No.

Legal and regulatory framework of environmental initiatives in the Czech Republic as a potential model for green policy implementation in Eastern Europe

open access: yesLaw. Human. Environment
EU countries, in particular the Czech Republic, are developing structural mechanisms to influence the development of their economic model in the environmental sphere.

Time, the final frontier

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
This article advocates integrating temporal dynamics into cancer research. Rather than relying on static snapshots, researchers should increasingly consider adopting dynamic methods—such as live imaging, temporal omics, and liquid biopsies—to track how tumors evolve over time.

Inhibitor of DNA binding‐1 is a key regulator of cancer cell vasculogenic mimicry

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
Elevated expression of transcriptional regulator inhibitor of DNA binding 1 (ID1) promoted cancer cell‐mediated vasculogenic mimicry (VM) through regulation of pro‐angiogenic and pro‐cancerous genes (e.g. VE‐cadherin (CDH5), TIE2, MMP9, DKK1). Higher ID1 expression also increased metastases to the lung and the liver.

Green's functions on minimal submanifolds [PDF]

open access: yesarXiv
We show that for the Green's function on an area-minimizing boundary, it is bounded below universally by the Euclidean Green's function. We also obtain asymptotics of the Green's function near the pole and infinity. These are done by proving a $C^\alpha$ convergence of the Green's functions under the convergence of area-minimizing boundaries.

MET and NF2 alterations confer primary and early resistance to first‐line alectinib treatment in ALK‐positive non‐small‐cell lung cancer

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
Alectinib resistance in ALK+ NSCLC depends on treatment sequence and EML4‐ALK variants. Variant 1 exhibited off‐target resistance after first‐line treatment, while variant 3 and later lines favored on‐target mutations. Early resistance involved off‐target alterations, like MET and NF2, while on‐target mutations emerged with prolonged therapy.

An analogue of Green's Functions for Quasiregular Maps [PDF]

open access: yesarXiv
Green's functions are highly useful in analyzing the dynamical behavior of polynomials in their escaping set. The aim of this paper is to construct an analogue of Green's functions for planar quasiregular mappings of degree two and constant complex dilatation. These Green's functions are dynamically natural, in that they semi-conjugate our quasiregular
