Characterization of Defect Distribution in an Additively Manufactured AlSi10Mg as a Function of Processing Parameters and Correlations with Extreme Value Statistics

open access: yesAdvanced Engineering Materials, EarlyView.
Predicting extreme defects in additive manufacturing remains a key challenge limiting its structural reliability. This study proposes a statistical framework that integrates Extreme Value Theory with advanced process indicators to explore defect–process relationships and improve the estimation of critical defect sizes. The approach provides a basis for

Enhanced dynamic support strategies of grid-forming-PMSG based on DC-voltagesynchronization: Frequency and Q support perspective

open access: yesInternational Journal of Electrical Power & Energy Systems
The DC-Voltage Synchronization based Grid-Forming PMSG has voltage source characteristics, e.g. frequency and reactive power support function, however, the support capability is limited, and the regulation potential is not fully utilized.

Simultaneous ultra-high contrast imaging and determination of time-dependent, non-common path aberrations in the presence of detector noise

open access: yes, 2014
Ground-based ultra-high contrast imaging, as required for direct imaging of exoplanets and other solar systems, is limited by difficulty of separating the planetary emission from the effects of optical aberrations that are not compensated by the adaptive

Three-phase primary control for unbalance sharing between distributed generation units in a microgrid [PDF]

open access: yes, 2013
For islanded microgrids, droop-based control concepts have been developed both in single and three-phase variants. The three-phase controllers often assume a balanced network, hence, unbalance sharing and/or mitigation remains a challenging issue ...

AC-Side Impedance-Based Stability Assessment in Grid-Forming Modular Multilevel Converters

open access: yesIEEE Access
Grid-forming converters can emulate the behavior of a synchronous generator through frequency droop control. The stability of grid-forming modular multilevel converters can be studied via the impedance-based stability criterion. This paper presents an ac-

Steady state evaluation of distributed secondary frequency control strategies for microgrids in the presence of clock drifts [PDF]

open access: yes, 2017
Secondary frequency control, i.e., the task of restoring the network frequency to its nominal value following a disturbance, is an important control objective in microgrids.

Supramolecular Rhombic Grids Formed from Bimolecular Building Blocks [PDF]

open access: yesJournal of the American Chemical Society, 2009
A programmed assembly process produces rhombic grid networks from compounds L1-L4 in the crystal by pi-pi stacking interactions that generate a bimolecular grid synthon, which undergoes further NH...N hydrogen-bond-mediated assembly.

Advancing Research on Biomaterials and Biological Materials with Scanning Electron Microscopy under Environmental and Low Vacuum Conditions

open access: yesAdvanced Engineering Materials, EarlyView.
Herein, environmental scanning electron microscopy (ESEM) is discussed as a powerful extension of conventional SEM for life sciences. By combining high‐resolution imaging with variable pressure and humidity, ESEM allows the analysis of untreated biological materials, supports in situ monitoring of hydration‐driven changes, and advances the functional ...
