Study of longitudinal vibrations of stab knife refiners [PDF]

open access: yes, 2019
The subject of research is the longitudinal vibrations of stab knife refiners. A model of the fibrous layer between the rotor and stator is developed. It is shown that it is advisable to use the Maxwell-Thomson model for liquid friction of the rotor and ...

Size distribution of embryos produced by crystal-rod contacts [PDF]

open access: yes, 1989
We performed contact nucleation experiments on the (010) face of potassium hydrogen phthalate (KAP) crystals growing in a stagnant supersaturated aqueous solution and determined - after a given growth time t - (ex situ) the crystal size distribution (CSD)

Parameter Variation in Planetary Ball Milling of Titanium Aluminide Powder in XHV‐Adequate Atmosphere

open access: yesAdvanced Engineering Materials, EarlyView.
This study investigates the effects of milling parameters, including rotational speed, milling duration, and ball‐to‐powder ratio, on TiAl particle size and morphology in an XHV‐equivalent atmosphere. The creation of oxide‐free surfaces enhances the mechanical properties of green bodies.

Circumbinary Planet Formation in the Kepler-16 System. II. A Toy Model for In-situ Planet Formation within a Debris Belt [PDF]

open access: yes, 2014
Recent simulations have shown that the formation of planets in circumbinary configurations (such as those recently discovered by Kepler) is dramatically hindered at the planetesimal accretion stage.

Influence of Test Temperature and Test Frequency on Fatigue Life of Aluminum Alloy EN AW‐2618A

open access: yesAdvanced Engineering Materials, EarlyView.
The influence of test temperature and test frequency on the fatigue life of EN AW‐2618A is investigated. High‐cycle fatigue tests are performed at different test temperatures and frequencies on the 1000 h/230°C overaged state. Both test parameters reduce fatigue life due to time‐dependent damage mechanisms.

Empirical Estimation of Grinding Specific Forces and Energy Based on a Modified Werner Grinding Model

open access: yesProcedia CIRP, 2013
AbstractAdvanced grinding processes include relatively new grinding processes such as Creep Feed, HEDG and VIPER grinding. These processes are more productive than conventional ones as a result of favourable process kinematics. Proper understanding of grinding forces can be useful in designing grinding machine tools and fixtures.

Cathodic Cage Plasma Deposition of Nanostructured Cu–Fe–Se Coatings on Poly(methyl Methacrylate)

open access: yesAdvanced Engineering Materials, EarlyView.
Nanostructured Cu–Fe–Se coatings are deposited on PMMA by a modified cathodic cage plasma process, enabling low‐temperature deposition on polymer substrates. A transition from discontinuous to compact morphology is observed with temperature, with optimal properties at 200°C, where improved CuFeSe2‐type bonding, lowest sheet resistance, and favorable ...
