Grinding Performance of Diamond Grinding Tools for Sapphire Crystal

Advanced Materials Research, 2014
In order to improve the efficiency and reduce the cost of sapphire crystal machined by loose abrasive lapping, the fixed-abrasive diamond grinding tools for sapphire grinding were investigated in this paper. Four vitrified-resin composite bond diamond grinding tools with different grain sizes (40μm, 20μm, 7μm, 2.5μm) were developed.

Evaluation of Grinding Lubricants—Simulation Testing and Grinding Performance

A S L E Transactions, 1977
Specially built hemispherical grinding wheel segments have been used to evaluate four grinding lubricants in a modified pin-on-disk wear test. These results are compared to external cylindrical grinding tests of the same lubricants. The scanning electron microscope and electron microprobe are used to show the similarity in wear morphologies for the two

An Evaluation of Cylindrical-Grinding Performance

Journal of Fluids Engineering, 1948
Abstract This paper, the third in a series on cylindrical grinding, presents some of the results of an investigation of the grinding process with particular reference to the influence of certain variables, such as, wheel grain, grade, and velocity, table-traverse feed, depth of cut, and type of material.

Evaluation of grinding wheel performance

Wear, 1980
Abstract Experiments were carried out on a horizontal surface grinding machine under dry plunge-cut conditions to evaluate grinding wheel performance in the grinding of steels of various hardnesses. It was found that an optimum wheel grade exists which gives the highest grinding ratio and this optimum grade is different for different materials. There

Effects of grinding media on grinding products and flotation performance of chalcopyrite

Minerals Engineering, 2020
Abstract Selective flotation has been considered the most promising strategy for treating chalcopyrite. Grinding, an essential procedure before flotation, has extraordinary significance in chalcopyrite flotation. In this study, the differences between the properties of the products obtained by grinding with cast iron ball (CIB, >3.5% C) and ceramic ...

Effective role of grinding aids in the dry grinding performance of calcite

Powder Technology, 2023
Grinding aids are organic compounds that chemically attach to a sufficient amount of particle surfaces and prevent the formation of gravitational forces between particles. With the use of grinding aids in grinding, it is possible to increase the amount of production with the wanted product fineness and obtain a finer product with the identical amount ...

Cylindrical Grinding Performance Evaluation

2018 9th International Conference on Mechanical and Aerospace Engineering (ICMAE), 2018
Cylindrical grinding process requires a large amount of specific grinding energy and the energy is dissipated as heat in the work surface resulting in increasing the surface temperature and localized plastic deformation. An increase in temperature at grinding interaction zone causes deterioration of the surface integrity, leading to grinding burns ...

Effect of the Grinding Oil Type on CBN Grinding Wheels Performance

Volume 4: Design and Manufacturing, 2009
The efficiency of the grinding process highly depends on the coolant lubricant used. In grinding with CBN grinding wheels grinding oils are used increasingly. In the last decade new grinding oils based on different oil types are brought into the market, whose effect on the CBN grinding wheels performance until now not sufficiently been investigated ...
