Aharonov-Bohm signature for neutral excitons in type-II quantum dot ensembles

open access: yes, 2003
It is commonly believed that the Aharonov-Bohm (AB) effect is a typical feature of the motion of a charged particle interacting with the electromagnetic vector potential. Here we present a magnetophotoluminescence study of type-II InP/GaAs self-assembled

Distributed archive and single access system for accelerometric event data : a NERIES initiative [PDF]

open access: yes, 2011
We developed a common access facility to homogeneously formatted accelerometric event data and to the corresponding sheet of ground motion parameters. This paper is focused on the description of the technical development of the accelerometric data server

Applicability of Accurate Ground Motion Estimation Using Initial P Wave for Earthquake Early Warning

open access: yesFrontiers in Earth Science, 2021
The earthquake early warning (EEW) system is capable of mitigating seismic hazards and reducing deaths, injuries, and economic losses. Although EEW approaches have already been developed worldwide, improving the accuracy and applicability is still ...

Cooling atomic motion with quantum interference [PDF]

open access: yes, 2002
We theoretically investigate the quantum dynamics of the center of mass of trapped atoms, whose internal degrees of freedom are driven in a $\Lambda$-shaped configuration with the lasers tuned at two-photon resonance.

Sequence determinants of RNA G‐quadruplex unfolding by Arg‐rich regions

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
We show that Arg‐rich peptides selectively unfold RNA G‐quadruplexes, but not RNA stem‐loops or DNA/RNA duplexes. This length‐dependent activity is inhibited by acidic residues and is conserved among SR and SR‐related proteins (SRSF1, SRSF3, SRSF9, U1‐70K, and U2AF1).

Statistical analysis of earthquake ground motion parameters [PDF]

open access: yes, 1979
Several earthquake ground response parameters that define the strength, duration, and frequency content of the motions are investigated using regression analyses techniques; these techniques incorporate statistical significance testing to establish the terms in the regression equations.

Impact of Multiple Faults on the Maximum Credible Ground-Motion Parameters of Large Earthquakes at a Near-Field Site

open access: yesApplied Sciences
The ground-motion simulation of regional-specific earthquake scenarios is crucial for the seismic design of key facilities. Herein, we considered parameter uncertainty in ground-motion simulations and the impact of multiple faults when determining the ...
