Deformation characteristics of ground with voids induced by shallow metro tunnelling
The existence of the ground voids makes the ground conditions around the tunnel more complex, which may increase the ground surface settlement and even induce collapse during shallow metro tunneling.

Estimation of tunneling induced ground settlement using pressure relaxation method
The prediction of ground settlement caused by tunnelling is frequently estimated using a specified tunnel volume loss, and by applying a semi-empirical method involving the Gaussian equation, and relying on engineer's experiences.

THE ENGINEERING METHOD FOR UNIFYING GROUND FLOOR SLAB SETTLEMENTS
For industrial buildings and logistics centres truck lifts are usually used. Therefore, there are special requirements for flatness tolerance of ground floor. The ground floor settlements differences in selected distances are limited. The article reviews the behaviour of soils and the importance of the actual behaviour assessment of soils during the ...

Monitoring and Prediction Analysis of Settlement for the Substation on Soft Clay Foundation
The bearing capacity of soft clay foundations is low, which easily causes excessive cumulative and uneven settlement of the substation. This will seriously threaten the safe operation of equipment in the substation.

Ground compaction due to vibrodriving of piles [PDF]
Civil engineering construction frequently requires the use of piles to carry structural loads to stronger ground strata or to control lateral ground movements. A variety of techniques are available to install piles into the ground. Of central interest to

From mice to humans—divergent strategies for intestinal homeostasis and regeneration
Recent advances such as organoid genome editing, xenotransplantation, imaging, and whole‐genome sequencing have enabled direct studies of human intestinal stem cells (ISCs). These studies reveal species‐specific features, including slower ISC proliferation, distinct injury responses, slower somatic mutation accumulation in humans, and an inverse ...

The Elastic Settlement of a Pile in the Ground
SUMMARY This paper presents a formula how to estimate numerically the elastic settlement of a pile in ground subject to static loads, assuming that the pile and the soil are the elastic materials and that the settlement of pile head consists of both the pile deformation itself and the settlement of soil beneath the pile base.

Response of a train moving on multi-span railway bridges undergoing ground settlement
99學年度姚忠達研究獎補助論文This paper presents an incremental-iterative procedure to investigate the influence of ground settlement on dynamic interactions of train–bridge system.
