Thermal Response of Helix Ground Heat Exchangers

open access: yes, 2017
This paper is devoted to the thermal analysis of shallow ground heat exchangers with pipes arranged in a helix configuration. The pipes where the carrier fluid is circulated typically embrace a cylindrical volume that is filled by ground or concrete, the

Fast ground-state-to-ground-state separation of small ion crystals

open access: yesPhysical Review A
Rapid separation of linear crystals of trapped ions into different subsets is critical for realizing trapped ion quantum computing architectures where ions are rearranged in trap arrays to achieve all-to-all connectivity between qubits. We introduce a general theoretical framework that can be used to describe the separation of same-species and mixed ...

Degradation mechanism of the von Willebrand factor A2 domain by nattokinase

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
Nattokinase, a natto‐derived protease, exhibits potent antithrombotic effects. This study demonstrates that nattokinase directly cleaves the von Willebrand factor (vWF) A2 domain in vitro. Unlike the native regulator ADAMTS13, nattokinase degrades folded vWF independently of shear stress.

Time-Resolved Study of Light-Induced Ground State Proton Transfer from Acid Medium to 4-Nitrophenolate

open access: yes, 2020
In the present work, we study the transient laser-induced formation of 4-nitrophenolate (4-NPO-) in the ground electronic state and subsequent proton transfer reaction with acetic acid and water with numerical calculations and laser flash photolysis.

Glueballs and mesons: The ground states [PDF]

open access: yesPhysical Review D, 2009
We provide a new, independent, and analytic estimate of the lowest glueball mass, and we found it at 1661 MeV within a relativistic quantum-field model based on analytic confinement. The conventional mesons and the weak decay constants are described to extend the consideration. For the spectra of two-gluon and two-quark bound states we solve the ladder

Modulation of Homer1 EVH1 domain internal dynamics by putative autism‐associated mutations

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
The putative autism‐associated M65I and S97L variants of the EVH1 domain of the postsynaptic scaffold protein Homer1 do not exhibit substantial changes in their overall structure or partner binding. Both of them, but especially the M65I variant, show altered internal dynamics relative to the wild‐type domain on the μs‐ms timescale, indicated by the ...

The ubiquitin‐proteasome system and autophagy as guardians of the cellular proteome

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
This Perspective covers the three principles governing the crosstalk between the ubiquitin‐proteasome system and autophagy in cellular proteostasis: (1) a shared ubiquitin code routing substrates via shuttle factors or autophagy receptors; (2) spatial compartmentalization into phase‐separated degradation hubs and organelle‐specific modules (exemplified

Ground-state cooling of a massive mechanical oscillator by feedback in cavity magnomechanics

open access: yes, 2022
Cooling the motion of a massive mechanical oscillator into its quantum ground state plays an essential role in observing macroscopic quantum effects in mechanical systems.
