Ground state sign-changing solutions for Kirchhoff equations with logarithmic nonlinearity

open access: yesElectronic Journal of Qualitative Theory of Differential Equations, 2019
In this paper, we study Kirchhoff equations with logarithmic nonlinearity: \begin{equation*} \begin{cases} -(a+b\int_\Omega|\nabla u|^2)\Delta u+ V(x)u=|u|^{p-2}u\ln u^2, & \mbox{in}\ \Omega,\\ u=0,& \mbox{on}\ \partial\Omega, \end{cases} \end{equation*}

The newfound relationship between extrachromosomal DNAs and excised signal circles

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
Extrachromosomal DNAs (ecDNAs) contribute to the progression of many human cancers. In addition, circular DNA by‐products of V(D)J recombination, excised signal circles (ESCs), have roles in cancer progression but have largely been overlooked. In this Review, we explore the roles of ecDNAs and ESCs in cancer development, and highlight why these ...

Existence and multiplicity of positive solutions for indefinite semilinear elliptic problems in R^N

open access: yesElectronic Journal of Differential Equations, 2014
In this article, we study a class of indefinite semilinear elliptic problems in R^N. By using the fibering maps and studying some properties of the Nehari manifold, we obtain the existence and multiplicity of positive solutions.

Conserved structural motifs in PAS, LOV, and CRY proteins regulate circadian rhythms and are therapeutic targets

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
Cryptochrome and PAS/LOV proteins play intricate roles in circadian clocks where they act as both sensors and mediators of protein–protein interactions. Their ubiquitous presence in signaling networks has positioned them as targets for small‐molecule therapeutics. This review provides a structural introduction to these protein families.

In situ molecular organization and heterogeneity of the Legionella Dot/Icm T4SS

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
We present a nearly complete in situ model of the Legionella Dot/Icm type IV secretion system, revealing its central secretion channel and identifying new components. Using cryo‐electron tomography with AI‐based modeling, our work highlights the structure, variability, and mechanism of this complex nanomachine, advancing understanding of bacterial ...

Sequence determinants of RNA G‐quadruplex unfolding by Arg‐rich regions

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
We show that Arg‐rich peptides selectively unfold RNA G‐quadruplexes, but not RNA stem‐loops or DNA/RNA duplexes. This length‐dependent activity is inhibited by acidic residues and is conserved among SR and SR‐related proteins (SRSF1, SRSF3, SRSF9, U1‐70K, and U2AF1).

Structural instability impairs function of the UDP‐xylose synthase 1 Ile181Asn variant associated with short‐stature genetic syndrome in humans

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
The Ile181Asn variant of human UDP‐xylose synthase (hUXS1), associated with a short‐stature genetic syndrome, has previously been reported as inactive. Our findings demonstrate that Ile181Asn‐hUXS1 retains catalytic activity similar to the wild‐type but exhibits reduced stability, a looser oligomeric state, and an increased tendency to precipitate ...

On Optimal Hardy Inequalities in Cones

open access: yesBruno Pini Mathematical Analysis Seminar, 2014
For a given subcritical Schrödinger operator in a cone in ℝn with a given Hardy potential corresponding to the distance to the boundary of the cone, we present an explicit optimal Hardy-type improvement.
