Grounding principles and practice III — Generator-neutral grounding devices

Electrical Engineering, 1945
Characteristics of devices for grounding the neutrals of synchronous generators and the conditions under which the various types of devices are used and their effect on associated equipment are discussed in this article, the third in a series of five based on lectures which were sponsored by the power and industrial group of the AIEE New York Section ...

On The Potential of Seasonal In-Ground Cooling Devices

Soil Mechanics and Foundation Engineering, 2005
It is demonstrated that when certain requirements are observed, seasonal cooling devices used for construction and repair, despite their complete or partial charging, which is governed by the procedures employed for work production, may be highly cost-effective components of cooling systems in the beds of structures.

Grounding electrodes and grounding devices. Regulatory requirements

Ground Penetrating Radar as a Sentinel Device

Symposium on the Application of Geophysics to Engineering and Environmental Problems 2010, 2010
Geophysical methods provide a non-destructive non-intrusive method of subsurface investigation. Oftentimes, however, the target is difficult to “see” due to lack of contrast between the target and background. This lack of contrast can be rectified through the use of a sentinel device.

Devices for a Rotational Ground Motion Measurement

2018
Generally, a rotational ground motion can be induced by earthquakes, explosions, and ambient vibrations. From the above point of view, it is interesting for a study concerning the area of rotational seismology (Lee et al. 2009a).

BASIC PRINCIPLES OF GROUND-CUSHION DEVICES

SAE Technical Paper Series, 1960
<div class="htmlview paragraph">A careful analysis is made of the basic principles which govern the operation of those ground-cushion devices currently known as ground-effect machines (GEM’s).</div> <div class="htmlview paragraph">Most GEM’s can be defined as machines which operate in close proximity to the earth’s surface without ...

SWITCHGEAR DEVICE WITH GROUNDING UNIT

2001
A gas-insulated switchgear device, comprising at least an input bar and an output bar which are positioned inside two corresponding bushings, an enclosure which contains an interruption unit and a disconnection unit which are electrically connected to each other and, respectively, to the input bar and to the output bar, and a grounding unit having ...

Ensuring Measurement Accuracy of Grounding Devices

2018 XIV International Scientific-Technical Conference on Actual Problems of Electronics Instrument Engineering (APEIE), 2018
The accuracy of measuring parameters of a grounding device depends, first of all, on the degree of protection of a grounding meter from the effects created by an electrical installation and a measuring circuit. The report considers such factors as asymmetry current of an electric network, direct currents in the earth, magnetic influence of a current ...

A Vibrotactile Device for Display of Virtual Ground Materials in Walking

2008
We present a floor tile designed to provide the impression of walking on different ground materials, such as gravel, carpet, or stone. The device uses affordable and commercially available vibrotactile actuators and force sensors, and as such might one day be cost-effectively used in everyday environments.
